Again, I expect Rockstar to make us pay full price of these games again even if we already own the originals so the Definitive Edition is essentially like a paid graphics mod with achievements and control enhancements.
Rockstar is doing all they can to suck all the money out of you.
They removed without doing a small sale at least
I dont think we need a full remake, but we need a remaster that goes a bit more in deapth, and adds some more modern controls to the game and makes them not feel like crap to play. I wouldn't want full remake treatments, but having them playable, and the difficulty spikes smoothed out would be a god send.
No... no we don't.
Time to stop with the 'remake' crap, get over it.
there is a plethora of good eirly 3d games that could easily stand up today as a great game if only for more modernized controlls or a more fleshed out version of what they were going for at the time. 3 and vice city stand out as barely playable by todays control standards, SA is better but my god could it use some polish on the control front.
sadly rockstar would add about 60-120ms of 'input delay' which makes their games feel like crap to play where nothing is responsive, but it would probably be better then what we currently have for them.
No there really isn't... just slapping 4K graphics on old games doesn't make them good again.
Time to stop with the 'slap a little polish on it' and try to squeeze some feels out of gamers... it's time for something new and original.... let the past go, it doesn't get that good again.
I'm a big fan of DOOM but after seeing some fool put it in a newer Unreal Engine and guess what... it was garbage, the original DOOM is still better... "updateing" doesn't make it better.
Period.
doom already has its remasters/remakes in the form of source ports, and ill put it this way, there is no going back to original doom after you played a source port. thats largely what I see as a middle ground between remake/remaster.
a remaster is great if the game fundamentally was already near perfect and you just want to make it run on newer hardware better, or run on hardware at all... what I wouldnt give for a metal arms glitch in the system pc port which would come in the form of a remaster.
ill put it this way, I despise the gta 3 and vice city and find them near unplayable even back when they came out, but they were the big games so I played them, SA however was playable buy jesus those difficulty spikes were brutal. enemies able to snipe you with a pistol while you cant even do anywhere close to that. a good once over would make that game modern feeling in all the good ways while keeping hands off enough wont bring rockstars current 'add 120ms of animation to every movement' ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that creates a very laggy/crappy feeling experience.
But by that spectrum, Rockstar could pull off a move like Capcom and actually doing new stuff, but then we might have to wait for a few more trailers to know.
I'm just really excited to get the chance to drive a proper banshee again. And the liberator. That last one was the mafia's car of choice, and was a beast.
Shame they ruined the banshee over the next two games. But I did get the Saber and the much superior Saber Turbo.
Oh crap! I get to hang out with Woozie again! Yay!
