Everyone knows that "Taking an arrow to the knee" is old Scandinavian slang for getting married, so all those Skyrim guards just stopped adventuring to stay with their families. Except there's no evidence that such an expression ever existed before the game. Also, it's "in" the knee, not "to".

Everyone knows that "avocado" is the Aztec word for "testicle". Except that it's the Aztec word for "avocado". They would sometimes refer to actual testicles as "avocados" in the same way in English you refer to them as "nuts".

Everyone knows "Jingle Bells" is a Christmas song. Except that it was originally written for Thanksgiving.

Everyone knows that in "1984" everyone is under constant government surveillance. Except that about 80% of people never are, and those that are, are mostly government officials to be kept in line, and they aren't watched all the time, but they never know when, so they must always assume it.

Everyone knows Radene makes interesting and thought-provoking threads. Except that many of you are likely bored half to death now.
