I got rid of my sky tv because it was costing me nearly £60 a month for crap. The movies on there were alright but the rest of the sky channels were full of adverts and commercials every 10 mins or so. It's not what im paying £60 a month for.
Now I have both netflix and amazon prime for less than £16 month and both are way better than sky satellite tele was.
but they're way overpriced. for example pathe is asking 5€ to "rent" a movie. i rather just use netflix or *this line has been removed by lord gaben for breaking the forum rules, please do not encourage piracy*
you can also buy physical dvd's and make them into digital downloads. isn't illegal as long as you don't distribute it in most places.
I have Prime for the moment, it's not a spectacular deal because it requires Sub-Subscriptions to view all that you want, but here it has free fast shipping, and amazon games, etc all included. Netflix is rather reasonable, it's got a fair bit of content, buffers well, and doesn't cost all that much. Before Netflix I used to buy about 3 movies in the $5 bin at a local retailer, now I pay less for that and shows. We also have Disney + which carries all the Marvel / Avengers movies, Starwars, and older cartoons / Disney classics, price wise it can't be beat, the actual user interface isn't up to the same level of quality though. Tubi is also free and carries a variety of movies, it's hit or miss with Knock Off's like "Atlantic Rim" but it also occasionally has classics like Akira. I can also buy / rent stuff on Google play, I have to say they're too expensive, which is sad because their platform actually works well and they could have dominated the landscape. Hulu doesn't really exist much outside of North America, right now they have the content that's too "adult" for Disney +, apparently that may eventually change.
My parents paid $99 a month for satellite from a major carrier and honestly Disney+, and Netflix, and Prime all together are less then $99 here.
I remember both the oodles of commercials on Satellite and the having to scroll through 400 Channels to find one I cared to watch. I'm also largely a comedy and Science Fiction guy, and frankly their isn't as many Science fiction channels as I like.
The worst is "tune in this specific time" to watch, or pay for a box that records your stuff. Screw that, I just want to get my delivery food, open it, sit down, and Netflix'N' Chill
