My youtube video got copyright claimed, any tips?
I tried to use 'Highway to Hell' by AC/DC for about a minute at the beginning of a youtube video (with credit if that matters), and it was copyright claimed instantly. I thought I could use whatever song I want as long as I don't earn money. The video is blocked completely in all countries.

I know that Sony Media Entertainment owns the rights to this song and I was going to ask permission, but can't find any contact information. I have considered uploading any claimed videos to a porn site in an attempt to possibly escape copyright restrictions, but disallow earning money from these videos as I am afraid I will be sued.

What should I do, any advice?

They are not going to sue you, instead they will remove the video and that's the end of it. Maybe you receive a warning, so you know what to expect next time, and what you may and may not do.

Even if you don't monetize the video you still break the copyright rules and copyright holders decide what to do when someone breaks rules, they decided to block the video.

Claiming sounds as personal property is proof humans need to be erased. Change my mind

Music is a form of art, just like let's say paintings. You should be able to decide what you want to do with something you make.

Besides music claims are temporary, after some time it's free for everyone to use it.

Not erased, just re-educated.
use royalty free music instead or do your own music.

youtube own editing tools offer a long list of Royalty free music you can add on your videos.

The more popular music is, the more likely it will make your video being blocked worldwide. So be careful which music you use. But in many cases of relatively popular or even rather popular music, you will have "yellow" block instead, meaning that your video will not be blocked, it will be visible, but due to presence of copyrighted music, you will not be able to earn money from monetization. Which can be a fine thing in terms of still gaining views, likes, and subscribers. I wouldn't say you can predict or find out which exact block you will receive, you may be wrong in both ways of thinking it will or will not. So you should try and find out. You can always deleted blocked videos, and you will not lose a potential of usage of some music if you would try.
Thank you for the comment! After uploading the video twice, I have gotten a red block. I was hoping to have a copyrighted video that can still be viewed, but I suppose that different songs have more restrictions.

I've looked into that, but I haven't found any good music using youtube's audio library.
Use copyright free music instead
And if u are using some song which has copy rights mention the link in description it will avoid ur videos being copyrighted

don't use copy righted content or distort it enough so the bots won't detect it.

"this song doesn't belong to me" or giving credit is BS and doesn't work. because you're still taking views from the original creator. it doesn't avoid copy right law at all.

there is a lot of copy right free music out there. just google.

I do not know much about it, but I think when you have yellow block, then any ads there are, revenue from them goes to the owner of music that is present in your video, so we can say it is helpful as well. Yes, it takes views, but some artists even gained a lot of views (millions as well) thanks to channels dedicated to music, like channels with music and lyrics.
yes that's a thing too. but not on copy right free music!
That song is copyright free. Fight it. As it is in the public now. The song is so old now that they can't copyright it any more.

How is the OP meant to fight it ? Clearly the song in question is copyrighted or he wouldn't of been blocked. Youtube have drawn a line on this and only way for OP to fight this is to take it further, meaning lawyers, big fees, hassle and time and will lose the case.

Basically if you didn't make the music it's not yours to use... it's not about making money off it or not, it's not yours in the first place...
