How often do you upgrade your PC gaming?
As per title.

I have an old PC from 2013. The
old graphic card is gtx 650 ti boost. I only play old single player games from 2008-2016, so not a dedicated gamer. Although I really want to buy Resident Evil 2 remake, Resident Evil 7, Dishonored 2 and Prey.

So how often do you upgrade your PC? Every 3-5 years or longer?

I upgrade my PC when I'm on Medium settings (some low, like shadows) and the performance hinders my gameplay.

Upgraded last year with a R7 3700X/RTX 2060S OC and that's from a quad-core I5 7400/RX 480. Before that I held on to an Athlon X2 with a couple video card upgrades for 8 years, because nothing I played at the time needed anything more.

And then I go and jump on a Quad-Core I5 after a decade of 4C/4T being prime and one gen later my I5 became an I3.

Thus the 3700X over the 3600. Will worry about about upgrading video card when I decide I'm done with 1080/60. Figure I'll wait another gen or two and go right for an affordable 4K screen and GPU.

Ever 5 years or so for me to, its not that they do major leaps in graphics nowdays it seems. Its been a while i did a gpu uppgrade and by the looks of it may go on for a while to here.

I'll upgrade bits and pieces whenever I feel like it, but I usually do a mass upgrade whenever I get a new GPU.

last few upgrades I did was a gt 1030 (from a gt 730) , passed to 16 GB of ram because some of my games had a tendency make the ram usage go over 90% all the time and finally Installed windows 10 on a SSD recently.

I would have switched to a new PC if I had more money but at least the one I have now is still working.

Usually if I have the money to burn. A few months ago, I blew a grand building a PC from scratch (I got fed up with pre-builts and just decided to make one where I know the ins and outs of, easier to fix problems, and having no arbitrary LED's makes life simpler...not to mention not worrying about compatibility and space for components) and last week I got extremely lucky and scored a 3070 for the least ripoff price I found, so I'm taking it easy for now. Eventually I want to put in another SSD, and I'm debating if I want to install a radiator (right now I'm using a Noctua heatsink, and it's doing me really good).

If you get the latest GPU at the time of building a new PC, or upgrading it can last about 10 years. Depending on frequency of use, proper cleaning, and how game graphics advance.

CPU can get about 5 - 10 years. If the motherboard's socket is supported then only upgrade when needed. Otherwise time for a complete rebuild.

SSD, and HDD only needs upgrading when space starts to become an issue, or the drives are near the end of life. I personally avoid Seagate from a long history of having them die way faster then any other brand on the market.

PSU will almost never need replacing if you get one with high enough wattage, and you have a good surge protector that is properly grounded. I only get a new one when its time for a complete rebuild.

Most other parts are upgrade when needed, or when near the end of life.
I just upgraded my cpu to the ryzen 9 5900X. I upgraded from the ryzen 9 3900x. I was going to get a new gpu but no one had one in stock.

I upgrade and replace my machines far too often, my last upgrade was less than a week a go.

I think the idea of upgrading when my machines performance hinders my game play is a good idea.

Every 6-10 years it seems. That's how long saving for one takes.

The salesdude at Bestbuy said this laptop is 'final model' and won't ever need upgrading. I can't see any reason why I shouldn't trust him at his word.
Maybe he believe the wold will end before you need to upgrade the laptop ...
