Is it true that American houses are bad in quality in comparison to European houses?
I hear this argument a lot on the internet. Whenever someone mentions that Americans on average live in bigger and newer houses, Europeans claim that our houses are made from subpar materials and expertise. How true is that? Are Europeans really living in better built houses?

It's true, walls are thiccer & soundproof.
Try punching a wall in Europe, you won't break the wall you will break your hand.

It's entirely true your walls are so thin, we have much higher quality in general, yes.

I haven't been to Europe, but I seriously doubt American houses are 'bad in quality.'

For one thing, I've never lived in one, but we have strict building codes in the US (especially in places like here in Florida, where homes and businesses are expected to withstand hurricane force winds, etc, for six months out of every year).

In other US states, buildings (including all dwellings) are similarly constructed to withstand things like earthquakes and tornadoes (as much as is possible), and local building codes ensure this.

They're not lower quality, structure is just put where it's actually needed. Yes you can punch through walls, most interior walls are cosmetic and don't even need to be there to hold the building up, but why are you punching them to begin with?

Are you hoping to see people argue again?

99.9% chance he is, yes. so many people on the forums for some bloody reason want to spark some useless stupid thread of 10000 replies that exists merely to flood the front page of forums with literal toxic cancer

America gets hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, etc. Our houses need to be strong.
