I don't mean caramel or chocolate or anything. The person or machine covered the popcorn in white sugar.....maybe it was me...who mistaked the salt shaker with a sugar shaker...but still...

So its basically the popcorn with sugar?

What about the brown sugar?

Also it's pretty good for diets as it's filling while not holding much and fibers. It's definitely worth considering in your diet.

yep, and it's super cheap. A little bag of popping corn is only a couple bucks, and will get you buckets of popcorn.
An air popper can be had for under 20 bucks.

Stay away from the microwave garbage.

It's not healthy if you're a borderline popcorn addict, like making a bag or a few bags each day for years then yes it could be bad and give you "Popcorn Lung". It's totally fine to eat a bag on occasion though and don't go huffing a freshly popped bag.

The heating is the problem. Diacetyl, an ingredient in most bagged popcorns when heated is released into a vapor and if inhaled chronically can cause some serious lung scarring and could result in even needing a lung transplant.

Sweet popcorn has a lot of sugar,
salt popcorn uses fat to stick the salt to it and butter popcorn.. Well has butter on it. It's not unhealthy but if you wanna lose weight probably not the best decision.

popcorn is healthy ?

I wouldn't necessarily call popcorn 'healthy' but it is a somewhat healthier snack than many that are available these days (crisps/chips, 'cheese' crackers, etc).

A lot also depends on what specific kind you get. Most popcorn sold as 'Lite' is going to be a healthier alternative to the "Extra Butter" and other flavored varieties.

Popcorn sales must be down if it's being heralded as "healthy" again.

Same thing happens with eggs. And pork. And wine.
