Simearth (SNES) help please!
Hey guys, hope you're all well.

I was wondering if there'd be anyone who really knows his/her way around Simearth on SNES, especially the 'Random planet' option.

The first time I played it,
I managed to make my bacteria evolve into amoeba and those evolved into starfish, but those never survived. I tried many many different options, but I think the planet had a rather medium to cold climate, since it had polar ice caps. I don't know what I did, since I was just randomly messing around with what felt right to me that time.

Anyway, the next times I tried it, my bacteria never reached more than stage 02/16 and never evolved at all, no matter how much I changed ANY of the settings.
Also, there weren't any ice caps at all, no matter what I did. I read several of the very few guides on the internet and the manual as well, but I still have many unanswered questions.
I think it might have to do with the Biosphere settings, the depth of the water they thrive in AND the temperature as well, but if I knew WHAT the friggin' fudge needs to be done, those one celled arseheads would have evolved already.

I read they're supposed fill the atmosphere with methane, but my atmosphere had close to no methane in it at all.

I like the concept of this game a lot, but unfortunately I can't seem to make it work. Somebody please help 😃

Have a nice one ✌😊

It is not really "cheating" in the sense you see today, it was made to also help some people that had issues. The magazines often had codes, hints, etc... for some games, you needed to buy the magazine to even learn how to progress.....

Is there some online archive known to mankind? Since I'm not sure if I can financially afford to get my hands on an ancient scroll like that. I was hoping to get it done with just the game itself, but Game Genie might be an option, even though I never read of any codes for Simearth yet :D thanks for the quick reply :) I still have hope to find a wise master to teach me in the art of simearthing though :D

Edit: couldn't find out the issue of the magazine so far, neither could I find some Game Genie or Action Replay codes :(

I'm familiar with the PC version but not the SNES version. Here are a couple guides on GameFAQs that may be able to help you.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/snes/588659-simearth-the-living-planet/faqs/11595
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/snes/588659-simearth-the-living-planet/faqs/11448
When in doubt, if it's a game that was released prior to 2012 it probably has a guide on GameFAQs.

I checked some let's plays, but they were all for the scenarios. Might contain some info still, I'll check. I'd hope for ROB, but I think he might be mad at me for what I did to him in Smash Bros. :D

I remember that game. Ever only got Starfish to evolve civilization, then they went to war and extincted themselves like 20 seconds later.

Thanks :) that was actually one of the two I found (I've known GameFAQs for quite a while now. I'm old, too ;) ). This one answers some questions, but unfortunately not all of them :D

xD they don't seem to be a stable species at all^^

I don't know what I did, but I got into evolution time scale and then into civilization time scale. My starfish civilization died from plague twice (like I said, not very stable xD), third one is still there :D I think adjusting just one or two settings at a time and only doing small steps might have made the difference. Maybe I was shaking my planet's climate a little too much in the games before, but mostly I don't have a clue what made the change :D :D

Have a good one :)

Yet another question arises:

Why the heck can't my starfish civilization progress to bronze age?

The bar in the civilization statistics always grows and then shrinks to almost nothing again and I can't tell why.

Edit: aquatic lifeforms can't become civilized, since they can't use fire. Q&A section of the manual. Counting on insects or trichordates now, mammals are too mainstream :D
