Aren't Steam levels pretty useless past level 120, anyways, because you can only place like... 12 (is the limit 12?) showcases on your profile?
I think past level 120, the only major reason (imo) to continue leveling is if you want to craft new badges to display on your profile (or because you've determined that crafting badges is actually going to be the optimal / more affordable way to acquire specific emoticons or backgrounds of which you are interested in), which leveling up from is just a byproduct of.
Why not 42?
