My Opinion. It's time to focus on game stability rather than game visuals.
I am playing a newer AAA game right now and I noticed that during close ups I could see the pores and natural detailed pits or flaws on the NPC's faces. Now really how much more detail do we need before enough is enough visually? These games today are crashing all the time because so many AAA games are system RAM dependent or the game engine just plain sucks. Yet we run out and knowingly buy games that have thousands of bugs and wait hopefully that a patch will be released to address a few problems here and there.

It is my humble opinion that now is the time for these game software writers to start focussing more on game and game engine stability rather than visuals. When I game I do not need to see the individual cells that make up skin or eye tissue but I sure would like to buy a game that does not crash the first time you play it. Your thoughts.

I agree but the most important thing in m,y opinion is that they should focus on coimpatibility and EXPECIALLY backwards compatibility.

I agree that a game running well is worth more then a game that has a good looking cover, but don`t most games have different teams for each thing?
Tell that to people who sell console disc v1.0 This not how it launches, but how it lands is getting really sloppy and lazy. I can buy an older retail disc game and it has ton of DL fixes/patches.

I agree, the AAA companies need to dial it back on making games where you'd need to have the top-of-the-line most expensive GPU out there to be able to play them. They need to think more of those of us with budget/low-end/mid-end machines if they want to sell more games...

Ignorants think good image quality = the best technology, without any flaws whatsoever. And ignorants are infinite.

Plus, the developers of the AAA games won't be able to stop it anytime soon, anyways, even if they wanted to. The publishers call the shots and what they say, is an order.

Graphics should never be on par with gameplay i.e. fun factor.
Holografix 27/fev./2021 às 15:16
ignorants believe that graphics are what make a game good. But you know what really makes a game good? Sound and gameplay.

We are getting closer to the ultimate expression of video gaming, namely a game where you wear a blindfold and listen to perfect gameplay via perfect sound technology.

Most games are super stable.. I reckon it is a "genre" based issue, more so than a general feel.
Also take into account, that most games are made to work and look great a medium graphics.. people "by mistake" crank up the graphics settings for almost no gain and then complain about stability, issues, low fps, etc....

It is a battle they can´t win.

They already do this... have done this for many many many years... again.. people just don´t have much clue about tech or software in general and overestimate their system and ruin their own experience.

Most of the games I am playing are years old anyway so graphically they are dated.
Graphics are over-rated. No need to sell your organs for a 3090.

Visuals sell the game. That is what the developers want. To sell the game.

The "rather than" is nonsense; people can't just switch from one specialisation to another. You can't tell the VFX artists who made those detailed textures to go work on crash bugs instead, and you can't just fire them when they're done making the lower-detail versions you're happy with, so what do you propose those people do other than making things look better?
Walach 27/fev./2021 às 15:35
To me graphics in a game is literally the last thing I want over another thing. But it's instead the other way around. :P

If you had to make a choice of what feature "thingie" that had to be the most basic of basics, what would it be to you?

Which is kind of a shame. Graphics are nice, but its great mechanics that make a great game; Games like minecraft or terraria or smaller indie games prove that great games don't have to have the most incredible graphics to make incredible games.
