Flash games were a lot of fun, and this isn't just nostalgia, remembering how 8 year old me would spend hours playing some of the games that would be considered even too outlaw for the wild-west.

A lot of games weren't regulated at all, so you ended up with some of the most gory, sadistic but fun games. Yeah, you'll only find George Bush Shoot out in the wild west that is flash game websites. Anyone could create stuff, whether you were experienced with flash tools or not.

Sites like Miniclip, Armorgames, Kongregate, Newgrounds, Addicting games, FRIV, everyone in my elementary class at the time knew about these names religiously.

What made a lot of flash games fun, despite not being too flashy (pun intended); was the fact that the controls were really simple and the actual mechanics of the game was all that mattered.

You could play a game about driving a vehicle into a vacant lot and it'd be incredibly fun.

Flash games became "irrelevant" when mobile games grew in popularity and saturation. Turning existing ideas into something more flashy, greater expansions and even micro-transactions.

In Dec of 2020 flash was on course of no longer being supported and at the time i had to go back and re-experience some of my favourite games.

Achilles, Gun Blood, Raze & Raze 2, Earn to Die 2, Gun Mayhem, and the many others lost with time that i don't remember.

Latest good one i found was tankwars.io, but doesnt work for mobile phone... havent played in a couple years, dunno it's current state. Matchmaker got screwed over for new players unfortunstely, maybe thats changed. (Edit: I just read they added ads in the game. No thanks then, my interest dropped. )

Some of those io stuff are actually good, but that was the best one i tried out of the lot of them.( Until i read that.)


I played the kingdom rush stuff and other td games too much too some years ago. And a bunch of shooters i guess. Also 3+ years ago, dont have a computer right now.. guess most of it 15+ years ago.

not much playing these days in other words. I will fix my lap top when a game i like have patched up their stuff, right now it's not in a great state so im content with just the phone for now.

There's multiple projects in the works, but Ruffle is the only one that works, kinda-sorta. It's glitchy.

The flash debugger is still available for download and works perfectly as a standalone .swf player.

oh man i have an entire list of games, one that i favored, one that brought me back was scrap metal heroes on overworld labs...it didnt get much recognition even though it was a good game, talking to the few youtubers that played it was rather interesting, we talked about stratagies and builds. twas rather intelectual...then "spycar" oh man this takes me back...one of the first i played i can remember. played it on kizi.com shortly after i learned of supermechs and the videos they had on their site, like y8 but instead of vines it was a bunch of stuff for kids. the thing that got me into minecraft was a video of someone interacting with the site mascot in minecraft. blew my mind at the time...then came a10.com with raze 3...had to play the others after that, never finished raze 1 got close to finishing 2 but 3 i finished well. there was this site called arcade prehacks. i played games there because flashplayers time was almost up. let me tell ya the people there, great people...mostly. they mod the games and make it available for us to use such mods, and with the mods being "inf health" "inf ammo" and etc. then (oh now this takes me back to the good ol days but a bit less) riddle school 1-transfer 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzRtC8mExJ0 i remember these games just like yesterday...the moment i found out of this beutiful thing shutting down, it reminded me of unity...not many people give unity webplayer the recognition it deserves but i beleive i do...the truth is us we player gamers dont grow up truly, we change sure. looking back at my past self. as innocent as i was i was a bit cringe.. but the thing is...only our games grow up..and the things that provided them...they died of old age. how satisfying it was sniping some noob who goes "ez" every time they get a hit in and winning then ez-ing them back in shellshock live the mornings before school. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FsrPEUt2Dg you see i was one of the "people" that used zac the browser...eventualy that died off and i found these treasuretroves of games... and the point im trying to make? i could come up with a ton more games: sift heads, the henry stickmin colection OG, toon shooter 2 commando1-2 awesome planes, robo racing 2, intrusion 2 before it got on steam, orion sandbox enhanced also before it got on steam...huh, i guess i cant think of more. it turns out they are slipping from my memory, slowly being erased. and the thing about that...as long as someone has it in their memory. berried deep in it. as long as someone tells the tale, of an age where there were these realy good brownies, where toys r us was still open, where most of us werent so awkard socaly irl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XayyES2vO8Q the days where people like me were smol, the days where there was not a single care in the world, maybe a little homework but besides that nothing much, the days where i used to just sit at the benches by the unisphere the days where id simply pop a cd in the radio with my dad and we would vibe... the days i could go upstate with my dad and camp for a week...heh i cought a frog up there once. i pet the lil fella. the days where you could have the time to just lay out on the grass and look up, the days where fanboy and chumchum was a "good" cartoon to you. it was for me at least... the days where regular show was coming up with more episodes and spongebob was...more or less the same to me. how i miss those days...i want to go back and return to child but i cant. not with all i have achived. so no matter how much i want to go back i cant, id have to remember everything ive ever done to that point and the point here and back to here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5w4-JsrljY oh i remembered another game into space and into space 2...right right back to the main thing...*sigh* the point being...(man i feel old now) i cant go back. we cant go back, some of us with more reasons that others we all have a reason, because time travle does not exist, because of our achivements now, and because we dont want to relive what followed those more than pleasnt memories... heh, i dont even know what to say anymore...well bye i guess, from flash gamer to another, have a nice life

Last time i used a flash site for games is about 6 years ago. Armorgames mostly. Did some zombie survival game that I don't know the name of anymore, Build-a-lot, Rebuild, Rebuild 2, Infectonator and other games I don't remember anymore.

I remember 12-year-old me staying up late and coding games in BASIC that were more outlaw than "Custer's Revenge", while my high school classmates did unspeakable stuff on a TI-85. If we'd been able to get our hands on Flash at the time, all of that would've been tame by comparison.

Good times, good times indeed.
