Flash Games
Flash games were a lot of fun, and this isn't just nostalgia, remembering how 8 year old me would spend hours playing some of the games that would be considered even too outlaw for the wild-west.

A lot of games weren't regulated at all, so you ended up with some of the most gory, sadistic but fun games. Yeah, you'll only find George Bush Shoot out in the wild west that is flash game websites. Anyone could create stuff, whether you were experienced with flash tools or not.

Sites like Miniclip, Armorgames, Kongregate, Newgrounds, Addicting games, FRIV, everyone in my elementary class at the time knew about these names religiously.

What made a lot of flash games fun, despite not being too flashy (pun intended); was the fact that the controls were really simple and the actual mechanics of the game was all that mattered.

You could play a game about driving a vehicle into a vacant lot and it'd be incredibly fun.

Flash games became "irrelevant" when mobile games grew in popularity and saturation. Turning existing ideas into something more flashy, greater expansions and even micro-transactions.

In Dec of 2020 flash was on course of no longer being supported and at the time i had to go back and re-experience some of my favourite games.

Achilles, Gun Blood, Raze & Raze 2, Earn to Die 2, Gun Mayhem, and the many others lost with time that i don't remember.

What were some of your favourites that you may or may not play until this day?

I used to play flash games for hours everyday, just maybe 5 years ago. There's many good ones, like Kingdom rush 1 and 2, Gemcraft chasing shadows, Jacksmith, and hundred more.

I played a bunch at a site called funny base that doesn't exist anymore. It had tons and tons of janky flash games and some of them were hard to find elsewhere.

I'm afraid many of those games are doomed to disappear forever. A lot of them wouldn't be considered worth saving for historical purposes, yet I am still sad to see them go.

Damn Adobe to Hell. Stop updating your programming language? Sure. Advise everyone to uninstall it? Sure. Design a kill switch into your language so it stops working after X date? WTF? That's not okay.

We live in an era of elitist oppression. Forced updates, functionality disabled in the name of "security", forced uninstalls, access to old media removed, DRM, tracking, spyware, targeted ads, serialized parts that prevent independent repair.

I'm tired of being told what I can or can't do with my own machine. Leave my ♥♥♥♥ alone.

There's a special place in my heart for flash games. When my parents wouldn't let me own a console in my childhood, flash games helped to fill that void. I was overjoyed to see the Henry Stickmin collection make it big, and even slingshot Among Us into popularity.

It was one of the newer ones, but still great. You know, that game had lots of potential. What it needed was:

more crafting materials like iron, crystal etc., more weapon types, make crafting much harder with more phases, more enemy types and make combat more involving with spells and such, secondary gameplay mode aside from crafting and combat where you gather resources or just something that gives you break from doing the same stuff constantly.

If the devs would had just built on that game, and expanded it, they could had made pretty good game thats worth a price tag.

Flash used ActionScript, and JavaScript is just ActionScript on steroids. Doesn't sound like "elitist oppression" if you're able to read this response on the internet.

And yet Adobe's decision flushed flash game websites down the toilet.

I don't need flash installed to read this, so your response makes no sense anyway.
There was a site full of RPG proof of concept mini game demo things I loved.

My computer died, though, & I never found the link again or got around to saving the SWFs from that site... :(

There was also some other site full of Flash mini-games that I didn't get around to saving for the same reason.

Anyways, my favorite is probably the official Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Flash game from the official website - & I did save that one. :)
