Would the world be better without the internet?

Curious of opinions.

Personally, I don't think it would be. The internet sucks in some regards, but it's enabled all of us to connect in ways that weren't previously possible. With the internet, you can chat with people around the world that you otherwise would have never met.

The computer in general is like a modern-day magic crystal ball, however it has also become a source of degeneracy and miss-information.

Technology is good if it's put to good use, but often it's put to decadent or (self) destructive use.

Although the reasons why technology is not put to good use lie elsewhere.

Corporations would love it if they could put the internet back into the Box. The news would be limited to the few broadcast companies in an area; no one would be able to look up videos on how to repair their possessions; and people wouldn't be able to easily shop around for better deals on retail goods.

Not to mention the complete elimination of second-hand sales outside of swap meets and flea markets.

So, yes, the elimination of the Internet would make the world a better place. Just not for the average consumer.

No, the advantages it provides far outweigh the negatives. Giving it up would be a big drawback.

Now I do think the world could benefit without certain parts of the internet, such as Twitter for example.

The internet represents work of mankind, so it can be both good or bad. We cannot conclude mankind is bad, but we can agree that leadership and policy can set things right.
