The most awkward word to pronounce?
I'm trying to think of the most awkward word in English to pronounce. Iron, missile, vehicle, are all pretty weird.. Because you can say iron as eye-rin or eye-urn, missile as miss-ull or miss-eye-ull, vehicle as vee-uckle, or vee-hick-ull...

But i think 'Rural' is the weirdest word to pronounce, ever. Is there any word more weird sounding than that? I never even try to pronounce it "correctly" anymore, i just say it as 'rule'

I am astounded that nobody has brought up the simplest offender yet:

And yes, it's a hard G, because it stands for Graphic, and not for Giraffe.

"Wasps".
Ugh, it just rubs me the wrong way.
I always say 'Waspi'.
We already have fungi, cacti, etc., so why not?

But it's more fun to say octopuses and platypuses.

Good to know that you pronounce other acronyms as jephegg, fbuy, and ahspeckah.

I think majority of the world are used to not having to guess how to pronounce a written word, because its vowels might or might not be pronounced the way they should, or have letters you write but don't say.

I blame English language for that, not majority of world.
Pharmacological never smoothly rolls off the tongue.

There are also at least four or five accepted pronunciations for restaurant. One region's official pronunciation isn't necessarily the "correct" way to pronounce something. "Rest-rant" isn't one of them I've found, oddly enough. "rest-raant" or "rest-raan", sure, but I haven't come across "rest-rant". I wonder where he got his pronunciation from.

More commonly it breaks down into three syllables with a few different ways to pronounce that "au" diphthong.

It is a loanword. The only funny thing how language just changes the way it is spoken when it is adapted. Like if you can compare Vase (American to UK), it sounds different.

Even if you would skip the syllable in middle, they are at least sound distinctive. I don't know I trusted this information from my English instructor.
