What do you think about the Resident Evil 8 footage?

I'm liking Resident Evil's unique take on the vampires and werewolves trope, it was only a matter of time before they made a game centered around these iconic monsters. I also like that the gameplay seems reminiscent of Resident Evil 4.

im a big fan of the series, but i heard this new village will be a open world? i dont think i like this idea if its gonna have a quest system if its like dead island for example i think the game will be ruined. res evil series doesn't really fit this.

Opinion is that it is a RE4 style with RE7 gameplay and that hammer boss reminded me of the market boss in RE5. I am getting a unoriginal vibe. I can wait on a discounted sale for sure.

Resident evil 1 is great because it captured the sense of fear in a mysterious house. From Chris disappearing to zombie discovery it's never a dull moment. The story could have been better improved with today's 3D technology, but..

The genre slowly became an open world monster fighter and now it's a vampire fighter. Players pay attention to the beautiful vampire and hardly anyone care about the house. The game can still be fun and nice but it's not going to be "resident evil" anymore.

They should make a simple game where a group of teenagers explored an abandoned hotel on an island. They were trapped due to a storm as the evening boat could not cross the raging sea. Strange sounds start to appear and they had to explore, then 1 of them disappeared, so on.

This basically. However i'm still hoping for a whole Standalone Resident Evil game, based around Mr. Grim Reaper, aka Mr. H.U.N.K. my favorite character in the whole franchise.

Edit: I'm a tad too biased tho about how the RE franchise evolved post RE3 (the original not the remake)...

However i really liked RE2 remake, specially the hunk, "ghost" & tofu mission.

Not interested, not much of a horror fan beyond Universal based properties and/or camp monster movies. Not even sure if those can be called "horror" and not fantasy or sci-fi.
