Have you tried looking through controller configuration through Big Picture Mode in Steam or through the Shift+Tab overlay to map controller buttons? You can assign individual buttons for your controller through key-binding on your gamepad. Not too hard. There are multiple custom gamepad overlays for all kinds of games that people have made themselves and can be used by others to try out.

I don't know if you can bind gamepad overlays for non-Steam games. Never tried it before.

hmmm okay, cus i feel like 2k21 or just in general The game will be hard with keyboard and mouse coming from playing 2k20 on ps4. i can’t splash in my park with keyboard and mouse compared to what i would be able to do with a controller... unless i go buy a used ps4 controller for like 20$ but i can’t do that rn and wanna play it now

Try a program called JoyToKey and have your keyboard and mouse work like your controller then.

8BitDo controllers are good, they use XInput which I generally use for PC games. If you don't have a regular controller for PC you could try one of those controllers too and there is one shaped like a dualshock controller you can purchase.
