Avatar 2 release date 2023. Are they crazy?

So do you think when Avatar 2 is finely release in December 2023 it will brake records or have they waited to long? This means there will be 14 year old out there who never even seen the first movie let alone be interested in the newest one.

So in you opinion have they waited to long, or because James Cameron is behind it Avatar 2 will brake box office records?

Or are you so young you do not know who James Cameron is?

The very first answer to my question makes me wonder if your right. I have never known a movie that waited this long or even half as long to brake box office records. The Matrix movie folks waited about five years and the two sequels did ok at the box office but did not brake any records. The Matrix was a strong movie and its follow ups should have done a lot better but they waited to long. My opinion.

It's going to flop. Not only did they wait too long to make a sequel, but now Disney is involved. Disney owns the studio, and the film's IP. That means Disney suits have the final say on everything that is involved with the film.

By the way have you noticed that a new Avatar game was shown at E3? Funny how nobody is talking about that, and that was made to build up hype for this sequel. It didn't help that the game looked generic to begin with. Still it puts things into perspective on how little people care about Avatar as a whole.

You are right about Disney being involved. I have read so many times how the suits of Disney are more concerned with selling toys from a movie than the movie itself. There is more money in those toys than the movie will ever make. I had forgotten about the Disney part and that makes it even worse. Like the other answer said, I am more excited about seeing the newest Matrix movie than dusty old Avatar.

A computer game that waited to long comes to mind, Wolfenstein 2009. It was a follow up to the Return to Castle Wolfenstein, that was released in 2000. From what I understand only about 100,000 copies were sold and then it got pulled and is now no longer for sale. You wait to long and you pay a price.
