DS2 is the one where enemies stop respawning. I think people complained it makes it too easy.

There is a covenant you can join to make it so the ennemies are harder, stop despawning (excellent if you are farming specific gear and don't want to go to next new game plus areas) and you can't coop but can still get invaded(i think).

Speaking of sales, I like how Bandai has decided they’re never going to put Dark Souls: Remastered on sale ever again.

The last time it had a discount was Christmas 2019.

I think it just shows how popular Dark Souls ended up being to receive its own designation as a genre. Demon's Souls was great and pretty popular, but Dark Souls 1 just made it a whole new level. Now it's also known as Soulsborne thanks to how popular Bloodborne was also and because they play exactly the same with a different coat of paint it's hailed as a Souls game also.

Imo what essential aspects of the souls genre are third person far perspective combat and looming death, so difficulty and checkpoints the way they are in soulslike is essential as well cause the pressure of death wouldn't be as daunting.
