- Religious, political, and other “prone to huge arguments” threads
Man, talk about irony.
Nice text wall...
There was nothing... is nothing... will be nothing "good" about cancel culture ( or what they now call "accountability culture" like it makes it any better, it doesn't ) it's just as it always was... not about morals or justice but about revenge and hate masked as being "correct" and "decent"
No... you're not alone feeling this way... many have ALWAYS felt this way, you're just starting to see the truth of it even though you seem to still be on it's side by saying there was ever any good in it. Hopefully more will see it's true evil nature and stop the witch hunts before they themselves become cancelled by it's own karma when it comes around and cancels them...
Agreed. I just think that we as a species can do better.
It is not “unfair” for there to be consequences for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ behaviour.
You are definitely not alone. Moaning about “cancel culture” is practically its own industry by now.
No there aren’t. There are practically no examples.
Nobody making mean tweets about sexual abusers is preventing Weinstein from going to therapy.
Then stop reading about these topics? People aren’t going to stop criticising poor behaviour, and nor should they.
Not if every time someone’s held accountable you’re going to call it “negativity” and complain about it.
This is nonsense. Accountability isn’t a competition to be won. You don’t solve a problem by leaving it alone but being better yourself. Not least because you’re already better than comedians who pull their junk out in front of people or whoever, by virtue of not doing that.
This has nothing to do with religion or politics... but you did make OP's point about cancel culture
My mom used to say, "As you sow, so shall you reap," and I only need to take a look at how things are in the world today to know that she was right about that.
No one is guiltless, and anyone who points an accusing finger at anyone else is just a hypocrite.
Including me, which is why I don't take sides in anything anymore.
Here on the Internet, in forums like this one, people fight, bicker, and argue, tooth and nail, night and day, and for what?
At the end of the day, nothing is made any better by it anywhere. And the next day the hostilities pick up right where they left off the day before.
