So the starving teenager down in Sudan is just mismanaging his life??.......
The reality is that we don´t have much control over the outcome of events in our life or well the start of it.
Depression hits everybody on the socio economical spectrum.
The first three things in your post title (loneliness, depression, and anxiety) are realities in my life that tend to wax and wane according to whatever is happening in my world/head/heart at any given moment, and I suspect the same is probably true for other people to some degree or another.
But that last one (Steam) is something I've relied on as a distraction from my internal dis-ease, but not a place to air or express what I'm feeling or experiencing. It doesn't work that way for me. (I really don't want people's attention in that way.)
The people on Steam don't really care about how I feel or what I'm experiencing, and that's genuinely okay with me because I don't expect that they should: they don't know me, and they all have their own problems and experiences (which I'm not at all connected to).
I'm not a social person by nature but I am nonetheless sometimes encouraged by reading what other people post in OT, so it's kind of a bonus: I get to enjoy discovering what others think about things, and learning about their lives, lands, and experiences. (I find people in general to be quite lovable, but at a distance.)
I abhor the Idea Wars that are routinely waged here, but I understand that they're quite simply a part of the landscape, and I've learned to try to avoid them. (They're chaff, to be swept aside, but without them it seems there can be no grain worth harvesting.)
And every day here @Steam OT is different (unlike many on this side of my monitor), which is something else that keeps me coming back.

it`s just very common that depression leads to "mismanaging" your life.
name one? do I have to answer this question?
Sometimes I wonder why people would use the most ridiculous of examples just to disprove my good and valid points instead of just playing it fair, be a nice gentleman and say 'ok good point' to make my day. It IS a gaming forum and I offered valid advise to gamers who are "depressed" because they played games and ignore other things in their life. I'll pass on this topic since nobody appreciates my effort.
p/s If you're truly depressed (clinical condition) you won't be asking it on a gaming forum. This is not a reddit's public topic on actual, real depression. It is a gaming forum where teenagers complaint.
Because your argument is not valid. That is why.
You could however argue that you could make some bad choices, that is if we accept that free will exist. But ultimately, those choices might be because of many factors, that you could not do anything about.
Again... depression strikes everybody, no matter their socio or economical status.
I understand that you've never dealt with depression before. It's not that simple; if it was, depression wouldn't exist today.
After reading your comments I am sure that you never dealt with a depression and thats fine, most people who never had one can`t understand it but don`t act like you have the key to solve depression.
Exactly but it`s not just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up statement to people beeing depressed over poverty, you can be one of the top 1k richest people, have someone to make your bed, a private chef doing all day the meals you want, cleaning staff and still be depressed. There is much more behind depression than simple symptomes such as lack of motivation.

Same energy.
No, I use the forums just to basically chat to fellow gamer's about games and other issues that we all have a interest in. For me personally, It has nothing to do with being lonely as I have real life friends, work colleagues and a partner that I chat too every day, its just another outlet to chat.
But to be totally honest here people, forums are my only place I can talk about games and the gaming politics in general as the real life people I do know are just not interested in games as I am.
