The only problem I do find is others who do have an opposite sex character of themselves in a game, are always such a smartass and disturbing at times. Such as playing in World of Warcraft. If you know what I mean.
Nothing weird about it. It is rather normal than anything else. I can't even play as female characters, because I can't relate.
It's no different from feeling squeamish when you have to choose the lesser of two evils in a game, or feeling happy when you defeat the bad guy and save the world. Some people don't, and just look at it like they're choosing how the story goes. Or some people do because they've immersed themselves in the fantasy in that way.
I'm a male and I play male characters exclusively in my games. I also avoid 'romance' in my games whenever I can, but where it can't be avoided I opt for a male + female relationships if/whenever possible.
That's just me and how I'm wired.
Other people are (of course) free to play their own games differently.

I don't mind playing as a male if I have to, but it has to be a pre-made character.
For example Rune Factory 4 doesn't have a same-sex option, so I have to pick a "husband", which is fine by itself but it isn't nearly as satisfying as knowing that you can choose a "wife" in Rune Factory 5.
I'm not judging, just curious if I got that right. You are a straight male, who sometimes feels like to play as a gay male ingame ?
And you have no gay tendencies, secrets or whatsoever in real life? Please say something, if I overstep my boundaries here.It is a interesting subject and I recently read a article about expressing gay behavior on a virtual level, when you are not able or even allowed to do this in real life. Just like Second Life, you know. Doesn't mean someone has to be gay. Could also be BI or just a coincidence. Or like you said, just a role play. But it could have a deeper meaning.
