What is Your Favourite Sport to Watch and Why?

That soccer thread got me thinking about this. I mainly watch two sports: hockey and baseball.

Hockey:
pros:

• fast-paced (it's kind of like a faster version of soccer)
  
• extra skill required for playing on ice
  
• physical play
  
• highlight reel goals are amazing in hockey
  
• fewer stoppages in play than many other 'ball and goal' sports because of the high glass preventing pucks from going out of play as often

cons:

• excessive advertizing (the boards and ice should be off-limits to CGI ads)
  
• ending games with shootouts (overtime should at least be extended to 20 minutes)
  
• tickets to NHL games are insanely expensive (non-major leagues are much better though)

Baseball:
pros:

• individual match-ups (pitcher vs. batter, fielder vs. baserunner, etc.)
  
• unpredictability (one weak pitcher and a team that was out of it could come back)
  
• variability (the baseball expression "every game something happens that you've never seen before." is surprisingly accurate)
  
• lack of the requirement to constantly stop play with whistles
  
• the uniqueness and quirks of each ballpark
  
• amount of games played (MLB teams play almost every day from April through September)
  
• tickets are fairly affordable because of the number of games played and the high capacity of stadiums
  
• all the analytics and statistics (some may consider this a con but I find it interesting)

cons:

• games often tend to drag on too long (just introduce a pitch timer already!) and the pace of play can be relatively slow
  
• many ballparks are outdoors and thus games are often postponed due to weather
  
• the scandals (Houston Trashtros, spider tack, etc.)
  
• The New York Yankees and their fans

Reason why: mostly because it had no history. I always hated when the commentators would go "that there Joe Martin done broked da rekerd set by Jumpin Rick Borguesi in nineteen eighty six when he done got dat rabbit stuck in 'is ear," and everyone in the room would be like "oh yeah, dat Jumpin Rick was sometin special for shure, 'ee woulda set fore more rekerds dat day if it hadn't been fer dat dere rabbimajig, course day was why dey called 'im 'jumpin', see dis was win Mikey 'da werewolf' McMikeyson was da head coach for da Boston Jitterbuggers an'..."

American NFL, and NCAA basketball. I seldom watch sports, but I do like to watch the B-ball championships. Not NBA, though. Watching college kids work so hard, and their families' excitement is fun. Watching multi-millionaires flop, in between bouts of whining and activism isn't fun.

Also the Boston Red Sox, unless they're losing. #1 right now, so yeah, I like watching that too. Rafael Devers is a one-man show and fun to watch, too.
