The reason was parasect, it had so many 2x weaknesses as a bug/grass type. They wanted it to have one less one. Or so I've always read.
https://www.peststrategies.com/pest-guides/silverfish-guides/get-rid-silverfish/
These articles should help if you don't want to contact your local pest control. I've also noticed that silverfish tend to congregate where cockroaches gather as one eats the excrement of the other. So you might want to check for those too.
Silverfish like to burrow where its warm, so they will crawl into the nape of your neck, underarm, crotch, fat rolls, etc. Then as soon as you strike they'll scrurry away.
Like Enterprofilenamehere said, carpenter ants aren't as bad as termites, but they can cause a lot of structural damage in wooden buildings. And I'm finding a disturbing amount of sawdust behind the siding and in the walls.
I did most things what you suggested except the pet part & I'm grateful.
I moved the furniture, vacuumed the edges and then I pulled some 200 IQ Amogus strats. I analyzed their hidey holes & placed bay leaves in such an order that it will repel them to their doom, yes I am talking about the silverfish traps.
It's been 4 days since I laid this strategy out and it kinda works, I'm seeing less of them compared to a week ago, I may update you in the future.
Keep things clean and dry.
Good times. ^^
