Constantinople or Istanbul? Which one do you think sounds better?
For those who don't know and live under a rock Istanbul is one of the most populous cities in Europe located in Turkey and a popular tourist attraction. Constantinople was the previous name of Istanbul that they renamed somewhere in 1910s. Constantinople is the Greek version and Istanbul is the Turkish one.

The original is better.

As far as child me was concerned at the time, this was the original.

(shrug)
I remember watching this as a kid. And yes, love this version!

Doesn't matter really. For some reason people get angry over it. Politicans do at least. Or they pretend to be.

desecrate historic churches such as the Hagia Sophia
For the record, Hagia Sophia being turned into a mosque again was erdogans little brain fart and unfortunately under current circumstances no one else has a say in it. Let's just say anybody with comparable (or greater) intelligence to a parrot knows that closing a museum that litterally prints money is a moronic act indescribable proportions.

History for me was never interesting , specially the history that isnt about my country (back then i was like "my gosh why do we have to learn this, im not from that country")

It was just pure stress, tears and memorizing everything word by word

It was the only subject where i havent paid attention (like whats the point of it when you can just use the PDF given by the teacher to memorize everything...)

The only thing i did on history class was drawing cute things (mostly bunnys) and painting my hair with a marker pen or doing homework since im too lazy to do it at home
I was the exact opposite. Most of the history of my country was covered multiple times in multiple grades so I felt it was a bit redundant. It was nice hearing about these places on the other side of the world that I previously knew nothing about, especially when I learned the previous year about the Romans and how advanced they were but now hearing *they were around in the middle ages.

*I know now that there are a lot of conflicting opinions about if the ERE really counted as "Roman" especially later on but when I was young and heard something controversial I automatically picked a side without nuance.

Yeah we also covered some parts of history multiple times on different years (well 2 times only), thats was even worse for me ,i was like "ughhh rly? I need to study those romans and the medieval era in Spain again?"

And the most funny thing was that the same PDFs was given to memorize (well, the same teacher i had so i guess it makes sense)

That was just literraly a loss of time

I even fall asleep multiple times in history class on the last year where he had to study all those things again.... Im still wondering how the teacher didnt notice

You should if you are indeed from Spain. Greece has a lot of origins that also come from Spain.

Well, yeah, nowadays i get that but still history is a pointless subject and a loss of time, specially when you learn the same things again (romans for example)

It should be teached at least in a different way (or less hours should be spent for it) considering the lack of importance it has for the future comparing to some other subjects

But unfortunately here ,they give it too much importance for the university access exam so i rly doubt it ll happen :steamsad:

Soon my long journey for Miklagarðr begins. I will be part of the væringjar and earn myself much glory, along with a bag of gold.

Funny enough, Miklagarðr means big "stronghold/city"
Basically that is what all names for it was.. Well I don´t know if Lumi has that meaning..

The worst of the names used (just native names) is like Stamboul or the short span of Augusta Antonina.

I rather like the Slavic version. Tsarigrad

Yes. It was fun to do so.
Even one of those you listed are a "euro centric" translation.
