If you don't know that already, the internet is bound to be a very harsh place indeed.

Detecting 'troll' online is an art, not a science, and it requires not just skill but experience and observation to really figure out one from another.

Aside from this thread being an obvious troll, lots of people cannot tell until it's too late, whether a person is being unkind or just an idiot or just trying to get a laugh.

You can't until you start talking like communicating and perhaps presenting your query to the person in question whereupon hearing this they could enlighten you if and why they are doing what you thought that they were doing, for the same amount.

many trolls usually just post some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to make people angry or start an argument (like making a post calling a game sexist or something)

the really good trolls are the ones who stick to a specific theme / question / etc. and don't move from it even after 600 comments and 2 forum bans. these guys try their best to lead people on as long as they possibly can

sometimes you just can't tell the difference but i like to give people the benefit of the doubt either way

checking someone's post history tends to help sometimes but it isn't set in stone

Detect?... you don´t detect them, you have to track them before they strike in large numbers, if you fail and they do ambush, you better stock up on either acid or fire arrows, unless you know magic ofc.

Never assume the troll dead, unless they are hit by fire/acid on their knockdowns.... because if you don´t you can be certain, they will get up again and keep attacking.
