There was this one game for ps1, I believe it was called clocktower, and you played a little girl that had to run away from a dude with a giant pair of scissors who will cut your head off if he catches you. You had to constantly hide from him.
The resident evil 2 remake has this dude called mr x who is scary as ♥♥♥♥, will chase you down randomly and kill you, and you can't kill him
The first skill that you have to train is athletics. If you can't outrun dogs, Bandits, robots, random cascading beams of energy that falls from the sky, acid rain, leviathans, slavers, bounty hunters, ninjas, cannibals, you're done for.
Pink Panther Pinkadelic Pursuit. I see so many babies complaining at the likes of Resident Evil and Outlast, but both of them combined wouldn't even simulate the stress I've felt when I played this game as a kid. Not a single game at the time had me on the edge of my seat.
Thief 2 The Metal Age - Most powerful weapon that you can't run out of is the blackjack. It only takes a tap if you hit a guard from behind without being seen, but if you hit after being seen it has almost no effect. Garrett can just barely outrun everyone though so you spend a lot of time running. You can use your speed to get the attention of six guards and then lead them astray or into a trap, like a mine you've dropped before the chase.
Garrett can hide in dark shadows or all he has to do is jump onto a bed. The guards will be able to see him and be annoyed by him, but they won't be able to climb on the bed and finish him off. Its ridiculous, but it works. The guards eventually give up and go back to their rounds.
You can also fire a rope arrow into a ceiling and hide by climbing it just a few feet. Often the guards won't be able to see you because they aren't good at looking up. Other times they'll see you and eventually give up because they can't climb ropes.
Another way to flee is to dive into canals, which often have underwater passages. All scenarios have multiple ways to enter buildings so if you have to run you can jump into a canal and find a new point of entry from an underwater tunnel.
You can put out open flame lights and fires with a water arrow to create shadows for hiding or to allow passage into new areas. You can temporarily blind guards with flash bombs to escape or to enable the use of blackjack for knockouts even when the guards know you're there. You can turn off some lights by firing an arrow at certain light switches.
I just played it on windows 10 a few months ago and it ran fine. There are about a thousand user created maps and many of them are better than the original game which is considered to be the best stealth game ever made.
