This is why i don't use cloud data features. To easy for someone to hack your cloud and if their server goes down with a hardware failure your files are gone. I'll stick to local storage.

That is what I do. I have a docking station thingie in my PC. And a couple of unmounted 10TB drives that I pop in when I want to archive.

Same. I've been using Seagate since the early 90s, and have never had a drive die on me.

I must have lucked out then. All my WD survived but my newer Seagate is dying i.e. still works but takes over 30 minutes to copy 4MB of data. Slow spinner I think.

There was a period, when the 2TB drives were the most cost effective. They were crap. All the brands. Since then, I have not had problems with any brand. I stuck to Hitachi for a while after all the 2TB drive problems.
