Anyone with WeChat please help

So I don't know how else to say this but basically I met a person and only got their WeChat number. We both have Steam accounts but didn't get to exchange the friend codes by the time we found that out partially due to my older phone rejecting it's SIM card which meant I couldn't get on Steam right then. So I'm pretty much just wondering if anyone's able and willing and able to give my Steam friend code to a WeChat number. I tried getting the app myself but you have to have someone already using the app and meeting all their requirements verify you before you even make an account and I don't have contact info of anyone that meets that criteria. I probably wouldn't download it for fun, but I just want to make contact with this person again so I'm just hoping someone would be willing and able to help. At the very least I just want to try though truth be told posting this made me pretty nervous, thank you Shandor. :)

Well I don't think sharing my Steam friend code with a few people is supper dangerous since the worst they could do is try to friend me but I suppose it is a bit of risk vs reward, though I just want to give this person my friend code so we can talk here on Steam. I'm asking here because the person I met is Chinese (speaks English thankfully because I don't know a word of Chinese) we just met during Christmas break (not in China) though and wanted to be friends. I did hear that Steam is pretty popular in China though and since the government blocks pretty much everything except their WeChat but apparently Steam is one of the few sights that still works in China without giving the government it's users' info. Though I also heard they are making a version with only a few games just for that I've heard which I believe is well, undesirable kinda seems to undermine it.

Your friend code is not the relevant part of my post.

Asking a random person on Steam to message another random person through their WeChat account, effectively giving away their info to the random person you met is shady and dangerous.

They can access the community here using a VPN as many do.

How about you contact the person in your WeChat?

If someone with a WeChat account meeting their requirements wanted to sponsor me so I could make my own that would work as well but WeChat doesn't let you make an account without a sponsor.

I think it's changed based on the reviews of the app in the App Store, everyone who'd gotten it recently was complaining about not being able to use the app.

So is there actually no way of sending a WeChat message to someone without giving them all your information? I guess I had the misconception that it would just be like texting someone where they'd have your number but it's not worse than a phone book. Well if anyone is willing to sponsor me so I can make my own account I'd really appreciate that too, whichever is the best. I'm really not trying to be sketchy but I don't know how else to go about this. Please believe I just want to talk to this friend again and I don't know any other way. I'm really thankful to Hotsauce though for giving me his/her time and anyone who reads this even if you can't or don't feel comfortable with helping thank you for your time. I realize I'm a nobody to you but if I'm ever going to talk to this person again all I have is their WeChat number so I have to either make an account or have someone with an existing help relay my Steam friend ID and in either case I need someone with an existing account to help me.
