why is mecha anime and cartoons done poorly?
Gundam, gaogaiger, transformers, darling in the franxx and eureka seven

the problem with gundam its slow and episodes feel like nothing was accomplished at all
they talk, the fight and they call it a day until the next time
its infamous for annoying characters and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ones

gaogaiger
its a very cool anime, love the opening, dont like the old man voice in the japanse opening
the names, power ups and weapons are silly
the later enemies and plot is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane, its hard to take seriously

transformers
beast wars was cool but has alot of WTF moments and pure nonsense
and a major mary sue who for no reason aimed to steal the show and copy another characters goal, it was monkey see, monkey do and gotta have that too...

the newer shows, fan made and official are bad, slow and confusing
including magic? WTF! yes, star scream was a god at one time with magic. WTF
bad voice acting, poorly chosen too, annoying characters, bad logic
no more mini cons, thats like digimon, without digimon or dragonball without dragon balls

eureka seven
same problems as gundam and eww evangelion
and a Tsundere

darling in the franxx
the mobile suits are way too human like, weird and cringy
the enemies are lame and a mary sue/Tsundere

Maybe you just dont like the genre lol
Give the older shows a go. Especially "Mobile suit Gundam - the 8th MS-team".

Have you seen Code Geass & Gurren Lagann?
They are the kings of mecha anime

The Transformers comics back in the day were pretty good, nothing like the cr*ppy cartoons (those were fun in a ridiculous way tho).

There were some good stories about them... like Optimus Prime sacrificing himself cause he broke his moral codes, with Megatrón smiling in front of him, only to become mad when he realized that Optimus was dead for good, and he has nothing to do with it.

There were some amazing characters too. Nothing like the bs in the movies (or even the cartoons).

As for a good comic-book about mechas... "Dynamo Joe". Wasn't japanese, it was published by First Comics in the 90's (don't recall the year). And it was the story of one weird alliance between humans from Earth, humans from Empire (another human race kind of), and the Tavitans (cat people who were amazing), but there's other factions like the Cheyenne Nation (or Blood Nation sometimes) which could be seen kind of the "belters", but they're barely in the story.

All of them fight against a microscopic alien enemy who creates all kinds of ship-creatures. Millions of those microscopic aliens join and form something. And the story is about this war, and how they fight in it. The Dynamo squad, which is composed by a bunch of big mech soldiers, and then there's some others, like the Galax-C and so. It was totally amazing.

And of course... Macross saga. The most amazing ever (doesn't look so good these days, sadly)

Oh my god... such a wall of text...

Cheers!

Code Geass is too obsessed on pizza and nonsense
You’re concerned that there are “very silly” things in a genre you’re identifying as including Transformers, the show about toy cars coming to life?

Check out Patlabor, it's a legit good movie. It has a sequel as well.

It is necessary to take some time to build up a world and characters so war and death are more impactful.

If you want something more serious then search for other mecha anime without it being Gundam (because you don't seem to like that one).
If you want something more "silly" then watch super robot anime.

I'm watching Getter Robo Armageddon btw, and I finished watching Cybuster just the other day (I think you won't like this one though).

Maybe mecha anime isn't your thing? Although I know what you're saying about Gundam. I've only watched half of the UC series but Zeta Gundam was kind of repetitive and slow, imo, I mean I liked the ones I've seen but... I would have liked it Zeta more if it wasn't that repetitive with its plot. And I've found some parts kind of confusing, maybe it was because I've spent a lot of months to watch it because I was doing other things instead.

Depending if you get the right version, Escaflowne treated robot based storylines properly.

OP I recommend you 86 - Eighty Six :)
