Sony finally realizing it is losing the long-run battle
A few weeks ago, Sony acquired one of the leading companies in porting console games to PC. A step to expand its games to the PC market. I'd say this is a bright move for the next few years because Microsoft was way ahead when it released its exclusive games on PC, plus releasing the Game Pass on PC which is way better than playing PS exclusives on 720p through PS Now on PC.

Microsoft hit Sony another strike when it acquired Bethesda. Bethesda brings the best games in the industry like Fallout and Elder Scrolls that make people upgrade their hardware to play those games and other games that make buzz in the market like Doom and Wolfenstein. Microsoft is focusing on Xbox as much as it is focusing on Windows. It treats the 2 the same and it will keep improving gaming on Windows.

Now Sony realized that its current state won'e be the same in the next few years even if it is winning the battle with higher number of consoles sold. Paying a company for exclusivity costs a lot whether it's full or timed like FF games from Square Enix, or Konami's Metal Gear 4. But, Sony is actually buying Nixxes for a reason. It hints that it wants a share of the PC market. It wants to bring more of its exclusive games owned by Sony to the PC market. A good move indeed because PC gamers are the majority but they are abandoned...That's at least how I feel.

I think gaming companies now have realized that open exclusivity is the way to go, that is releasing their games on their consoles and Windows. We saw some companies focusing less on the full exclusivity route and went ahead with open exclusivity like Square Enix. SE, a Japanese company, is growing globally through earning more cash from selling their games across all platforms that enabled them to grow and expand their infrastructure that they had acquired other companies and opened more development studies outside of Japan, and now, they focus more on PC. More games I see from SE are being released on PC than other consoles. Like Bravely Default II which was a timed exclusive on Switch is to be released on Steam next month. So, the outcome is very positive from open exclusivity for many companies and Sony will harvest what it sowed.

Gaming on the Cloud.

A lot have speculated that gaming on the cloud is the next step in the industry. 5G is out there and is pretty fast, but not dominant yet. Once internet booms in the number of users, availability, and speed, this will definitely make Cloud gaming more possible. But how would this affect hardware and exclusivity?

In the mean time, exclusivity is becoming more open, but cloud gaming doesn't require expensive hardware to play AAA games or newly released games with recent graphics. It will be internet dependent. Sure, companies now can enjoy more profits from selling their games across multi-platforms, or mainly, the PC and the exclusive consoles, but in the next 15 years, when internet is more broader and faster, we will ditch our hardware for the cloud. And by that time, I assume cloud platforms like PS Now and Xbox Game Pass to improve a lot and Sony with Microsoft, to remain producing consoles with cloud streaming services. The cherry on the top is that PC gamers get whatever the console players get, meaning that the improved version of PS Now on Playstation 8 is the same on PC with the same games.

At least, this is how I think now when I see more exclusive games from hard headed companies like Sony releasing them PC.

if that's the best the industry has to offer gaming is doomed
Sony is Japan and Japan is a nation of animephiles and robotphiles

We get robo cat girls at some point so Sony will do fine.
5G won't reach most gamers before a while and a lot's of peoples just don't have an Internet stable or good enough to be using Cloud gaming as a main way to play games.

I played games on both geforce NOW and stadia , some days it's work fine , some days it's terrible ... so I still play almost all of my games locally.
Sony sucked when it started making you pay for its online

The Xbox is a PC in a box running Windows 10 so hardly porting, it is an ecosystem they want you using yet i have no need for Xbox so therefore it is not a sales pitch i fall for.

Microsoft lost the last generation console battle because there were no games been
released on Xbox, a fact those criticising Sony like to leave out.

Microsoft were first to start charging console gamers for using online services.

Microsoft had exclusives it refused to release on PC. Porting them years later is hardly a reason to sing Microsoft's praises, so why criticise Sony when it simply boils down to FOMO or the very fact that there are PC gamers resistant to putting PC games on consoles.

PC Master Race is an illusion.

I am a GAMER, someone who plays games on various platforms and Demon's Souls on PS3 and Bloodborne on PS4 are great experiences. I have replayed Demons' Souls every year since 2009 and Bloodborne every year since 2015.

I did not buy an Xbox to play Halo, because i was not interested in Xbox nor Halo and when it came to PC years later i still do not want to play it and i still do not have an Xbox.

Game Pass is overrated - only 5 games i fancied playing during the £1 offer for Ultimate and all we uninstalled after realising i did not want to play them and Game pass was refunded.

I do not pay monthly for that kind of service. If i want a game i buy it.

For FFXIV i am willing to pay the subscription for it.

Bethesda are overrated and they are not the only developer on the planet.

Skyrim is boring unless modded and it only survived because of modding.

Fallout 4 is not an improvement on Fallout 3 and Fallout 3 is surpassed by Fallout New Vegas.

Fallout 76 was a disaster and it is irrelevant whether it has improved for some people

People do not run out and upgrade their PC to play Bethesda games since Bethesda has used the same crappy engine for years with tweaks.

If you had named them BUGthesda you would have been correct.

Sony owns a few of those companies releasing on their consoles and if you are winning the console war and release games as Sony did for PS4 the expenditure versus increasing income becomes a moot point.

As for cloud gaming -

"industry" isn't many individuals. industry is a body by/in itself. we talk about it, we live in it, we feel it breath, we touch it and we feel being pushed by it (a.k.a. fear of missing out). based on how we talk about it we define ourselves (a.k.a. polarization).

for the industry those games are good if they are good enough.

The industry is those work in it, live in it, and breath it - we on the other hand as those who consume it's products, who talk about games, and maybe when asked we may pass on a opinion on the industry.

A game is defined by yourself whether good, bad, not the industry.

You may feel that it is incorrect but i do not find myself talking about the food industry, chemical industry, music industry, game industry etc in daily life.

Bethesda are more than just those titles you mentioned, and even then you're massively downplaying them. Skyrim is an industry staple at this point, it prints money wherever it goes. That new ES title will be massive, and may well skip Sony. Similarly for Fallout, massive IP with a huge following, and even 76 hasn't ended up being a disaster. It's certainly not irrelevant, no need for the hyperbole.

They also bring over Doom, Quake (newly revived), Dishonoured, Wolfenstein among others, games the Sony consoles may not ever see again. Their much-hyped Starfield is also an Xbox/PC-only title, again, that's a huge loss to Sony.

Sony found their success by offering better exclusives, on top of playing the biggest third-party games available too. Removing a chunk from that latter section is a massive blow to them, which explains them doubling down on their own exclusives by buying more studios.

Optic Fibre is expensive to Implements , so I think there are places that might actually get 5G before Optic Fibre and both are better then what some peoples are stuck with.
