I wouldn't want a person like that as a regular friend let alone an actual romantic partner. It's a no-go for me, Jacko. But for the sake of this thread and (hopefully) hypothetical situation, I'll explain a bit.
Let's say that this was the actual scenario. I would calm but firmly bring the discussion up with them and tell them that I don't like their rude, disrespectful attitude. I would give them an ultimatum and tell them to stop or I would break up with them.
IIRC experts agree that once you are at the ultimatum stage the relationship is already over and that you're trying to bargain your way back into it.
Most men - and some women - are blunt and straight-forward by nature but have to act "fake nice" because society says so. Because society thinks a direct approach or no-nonsense behaviour means you have a stick up your booty.
Do you know that thing some people love to say and do about those who curse a lot, for example? Threating them like sub-humans? Uncivilized, uncultured primates while, if you put the gears in your head to work, you'll notice that, most of the time, that's far from the truth?
Both things are connected and it all boils down to one answer, alone: lack of patience. And, despite what many are led to believe - mostly by the gurus of pop culture - that's not a character flaw nor a psychological issue.
Arrogance and pride, on the other hand, are huge banes of society. Along with lust, vanity and greed. But such traits are ignored if you "know how to communicate". Give me a break.
You're sitting at the dinner table for the first time with your parents and your new girlfriend, and she says, "Excuse me.... I gotta take a dump!"
