And random nobodies on the internet don't count.
Who gives a ♥♥♥♥ what other people think?
Where's the beef?
Do what you enjoy. F' other people.
personally I can't play FPS with a gamepad , find it too hard to aim with a joystick.
Do what you want OP. Screw the haters. Whatever works for you.
Even the PC Master Race subreddit's wiki has this as one of the reasons why PC is better than consoles: https://old.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/wiki/guide#wiki_you_can_use_any_controller_with_your_pc.2C_not_just_one_single_model_like_with_consoles
So if there's any PC elitists scolding you for using a controller, they clearly did not see this article and just following the PCMR circlejerk bandwagon without any thought. Ignore these morons.
Reason why it's taboo to play a first person shooter with a controller is that you can't aim precisely well with an analog stick. Auto aim or aim assist doesn't count.
If you're struggling to use keyboard and mouse then here's the thing: the more you use it, the better you can control with it. Memorising the keyboard layout also helps.
But even so, there are some games that goes better with a gamepad than keyboard + mouse such as platformers, fighters, racing or really, most games with a third-person perspective.
Whatever the case, it's all up to personal preferences.
Use any input method you prefer and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Like most of the time I use a controller, especially for fighting games and the only time I use keyboard and mouse are for games that dont have loads amount of commands binded to keys cause I will forget easily where everything is.
However, if you play fighting games, nobody would say a joystick or gamepad is bad. Because that's where they gave that full control. It's harder for a keyboard to perform a special move that requires the joystick to spin in full circle twice. When PC is still new in market, adding a gamepad in DOS is recognized and respected. Hence it's not about PC or console. It's all about giving your best to your input.
When you talk about playing on PC now, people can naturally see it as a serious and competitive type with expensive keyboard and mouse. That's where the market is today. Hence you should not mention "gamepad on PC", instead simply say "I play easily controllable games on PC with Gamepad just to get higher FPS". You will be loved.
