Anyone with a lot of experience using discord?
As someone pointed out, yes I think its better to post the issue here.
So I moderate a relatively small server. There we hosted a giveaway. Its going to end in about 15 hours. However recently the server got overrun with alt accounts. Im kinda panicking since the owner is sleeping right now and Im the solo moderator.

Any ideas what I can do?

I know altdentifier might help but Idk if it will remove the alt accounts that are already in and have the member role.

Not much you can do without the server owner, they will want to add some moderation bots that can automatically check for alt accounts based on ip etc,as a moderator you can time out some alt accounts or ban them if needed.

good luck, that sounds like a nightmare.

I don't get why you're a solo moderator, unless we're referring to a server that has around 50-100 members.

We have verification in place for new accounts joining the r/Steam discord, currently i believe requiring verification by phone.

As for giveaways, we have strict rules in place, and we made those rules public. I don't know what type of giveaway this is but users participating (based on our design) will need to have their Steam account linked to their profile, as well as other checks.

Your best option now is to get a bot like Dyno, and enable its logs to check for new users, as well as use it to check the account creation date of existing accounts.

Yeah you can do verify account by phone number but the server owner needs to add it.

I am not the solo moderator. However most mods including the owner is asleep at this time and when they get up it will probably be very late.

I tried to ban accounts. Cuz literally 90% of the accounts that joined today were new accounts. They had the "Hey im new to discord say hi" thingy. I kinda want to ban them but I dont want any legit new account to get banned.

Also I might ask the owner to get altdentifier. Would that force already existing accounts to verify too?

Specify giveaway rules, that new accounts cannot participate in the giveaway.

That may not be "fair" to new legitimate users, though, but you have a serious problem with alts.
