If you already tried it and you know that you like it then you can buy it now. It is not a bad thing to buy older consoles, it is much worse to buy new ones too soon, believe me.
In my opinion the PS4 is not a good console, but if you like it it is much better than buying a PS5 now.
Its OS is very slow and sluggish, there is only one exclusive game that I really liked (God of war), and the port of Skyrim was really awful, on Switch it runs much better.
I know games are subjective you might have different tastes but the fact that its OS was really sluggish and annoying is a fact. Keep in mind that I had a PS4 Pro and used it in performance mode since I don't have a 4k tv.
Bloodborne, Katamari Forever, and... ???
That said what you will also need is this:
1. A quality 1080p HDTV. It should be at least 40".
2. A high-quality AV Receiver or Preamp+Amp combo + high-quality floorstanding speakers.
I cannot stress those two points enough—do not buy the PS4 Pro if you're going to use a 24" PC Monitor and headphones or PC Speakers. You will simply be shortchanging yourself.
If you do not want to get an AV Receiver+Floorstanding speakers+Good HDTV, you shouldn't get a PS4 Pro.
Yes. I'm sure that Skyrim is just a bad port, I'm sure it's not a problem of the console itself it's a problem of that conversion instead, but the OS is very annoying. But all the other games (except Skyrim) that I tried ran fine. I just did not like most of them.
WHAT???????????
I ONLY play single player games and the PS4 was one of the worst purchases that I have ever made (except for God of war because I really loved it. But God of war 2 for the PS2 is still the best in that franchise anyway)
PC would be objectively superior, consoles have some advantages and the most relevant one is exclusives.
Some consoles can be great and I love some of them, but there are many things wrong with them: the way their closed system make it easier to force scams on customers and the (usual) lack of backwards compatibility are the ones that annoy me the most. PC is not perfect either, but it is superiore to consoles in many ways
In my opinion the OS of the PS3 is much more responsive and enjoyable to use rcompared to the PS4 one.
Anyway I agree the store is probably the worst part of it.
