Do people still hate on the Epic Games Launcher?
This is not to start drama, but genuine curiousity since Warframe had a unreal tournament cross over for weapon skins and the only real things Id want to play if I reinstalled were Diabotical and Dauntless. I stopped supporting epic cause of the circus that was the epic vs apple stuff, not a fan of Fortnite myself but I did like save the world. But back to the topic, do people still hark on it at all?

Is there a source that a foreign government is spying? No absolutely not, otherwise they'd be pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ at spying. Just like there was no source of CCP stealing their entire telecom technology from Nortel, until it was already said and done.
Just like there was no source that they had Chinese spies infiltrated in the upper echelon of American politics, until last week when the spy escaped.

But yeah, there's no way they'd use epic to spy like they're currently doing with Huawei and tik Tok. Completely unfounded and baseless!
Glad you admit you don't have sources and your accusations are unfounded and baseless.

Yep. CCP has just a long history of using their subsidiaries for espionage, with as recent as an example as last week. But don't worry guise, they'd never use gaming services like they use their pedo enabling social media for espionage.

Hostile foreign government nationally owned companies who've been caught spying multiple times before has totally stopped doing that (despite the Huawei heiresses currently in custody in Canada for breaking international boycotts by supplying Isis with a wireless network). To even make the assumption that they are doing that, would be conspiracy theory territory.
Because using past proven behavior to make assumptions about current or future behavior is absolutely ridiculous

So, still no official sources for what you claimed in your first response?

They sorta faded into obscurity and shot themselves in the foot with their "standards"

A tiny recap:

-steam changed policies and others followed suit for exclusivity deals
-all the games that are exclusive are all massively ♥♥♥♥♥♥ or sub par even on known franchises
-they gave away free games so the majority of their current playerbase only see them as such
-tons of bad pr and china relations
-next gen consoles out so people upgraded or disregarded pc for a bit.
-the virus
-US policies and other countries changing to ban certain apps like tik tok whatsapp affecting the bottom line
-Fortnite dying out in craze (massive source of income)
-The whole apple and google store vs epic court case for breaking their ToS or terms and conditions

Basically they tried to establish roots during one of the worst years possible or a couple of months prior.

Its like Zune or sadly vine. It was a hot trending hype booster. Media presses on the gas pedal. Then the hype died. People left. Current ones no pay. The thing died out. Cycle repeats.

I don't hate them though. They give me free games.

I don't trust them since they abandoned pc gaming and ridiculed pc gamers by calling them pirates and they abandon projects which doesn't make them billions like Paragon & Unreal Tournament.

They whine about steam monopoly yet their actions shows they are the one who are a monopoly.

If anything i hate Tim Swiney.

The EGS is about to become obsolete, because most of the dumb exclusivity bullshittery contracts seem to have ran out. But there is still one more game that I'm interested in so I'm still hating on them.

It's just one clunky launcher among others. Getting numb with them already. So many of them...

What's weird that they pour so much money on free games, but fail to make better services. They could just copy/paste what Steam has and make it better from there. Somehow they fail to see the potential.

Why not offer profiles with better customization. Or forums with easy editing options (Even some old BBS programs beat steam on this). Stack in let's say family share for 2 players online for co-op and so forth.

Their free games do make people used to Epic, but they really don't offer better services to stick with.

Epic is just a front for the CCP to monitor millions of people.

Source?

My guess is this person is talking about this https://www.windowscentral.com/does-epic-games-store-send-data-chinese-government

Although Epic Games denies. There is no way of knowing.

You've got a hostile foreign government just across your southern border bucko, lol.
Keep an eye on Canada before that starts to slip too.

We all understand you don't like epic games but making a statement like you don't buy things made in china isn't true at all. I believe you grossly underestimate how many goods and services come from china.

Most things in your house have most likely been made in china or has parts that come from china. The monitor your using now will have most likely contend something inside that was produce in china.

If you really wanted to stop buying chinese products then you would really need to do your research in what things you are spending money on. It's not a easy task, just because the product doesn't have a made in china sticker doesn't not mean some part of it has come from china. Even steam is partnered with china for their chinese steam client but im sure you won't stop using steam.

what if he didnt buy his hardware and steam china is different from steam, one supports china and one doesnt

There was a massive debate on here some time ago about goods made in china. So I though I look in my house for things made in china and to my surprise, most things I own are made in china, even some of my underwear has a 'made in china' label.

Looking deeper into it, you realise how much really does come from china from cooking pans too the latest chips used in smart phones. Even the big american companies use labour from china too make goods to sell to americans at inflated costs.

When i dont like something, i generally dont talk about it beyond once.

Some however cling to a dislike as though they were a patriot of a real cause.

Its only year 2 of the store which considering 9 out of 10 startup ventures fail every year bodes well for them, especially in the face of a global virus pandemic and 2 encounters that have cost them a fall in fortnite base and revenue.

Lets not forget what the likes of EA and Ubisoft who have had their fare share of problems yet many years later still stand. Lets also not forget a smaller one (gog) that even now around a decade old is still very much alive.

The young mostly but not exclusively dont realise their own countries brand of capitalism outsourced so much, they actually made china as powerful as it is today.
Chinas not responsible for what it has become, the western worlds governments own that debt of thanks.

Nothing comes without cost.

Yes, and for me personally, I don't see any future where I will ever like or even tolerate Epic.

>Paid Exclusives
>Predatory Pricing
>Aggressive company buyouts
>Half Assed store
>Crunches Developers
>Tencent Association
>Childish hypocritical CEO who compared his Apple lawsuit to human rights
>Exploitative F2P model for Fortnite
>Divided consumers and developers
>Finding ways to infect every game with their unwanted services (Easy Anti Cheat, Epic Online Services).

Honestly, I don't know how people can justify supporting Epic considering all the things above. They don't care for developers or consumers, everything they do is for their own personal gain as is the case for most corporations.

It's sadly gotten to the point where I find it hard to want to buy games that use UE even if the developer has done as much as they can to distance themselves from Epic.

Edit: the reason why you might see less people complaining about the EGS is because Epic has acquired very few exclusives this year. There were only 3 at this years Game Awards show and they were all announced as exclusives some time ago.

It's also a topic that has been discussed to death, so there's not as much to talk about.

Not only that but the hype died down
fortnite is dying
and
the whole app bans from apple / google and the government itself

a triple whammy. It's like it's out there with publicity and its good even if it's bad but no one gives 2 ♥♥♥♥♥ lmao.

on par with that guy who did the college football schemes for money and then got off because the great depression happened a couple of weeks prior to his court date.

it's like yeah he was caught and gonna be served justice but who gives a ♥♥♥♥ THE ECONOMY BROKE we got bigger things to worry about.
