It was the 80s. Rich people liked rich-sounding name brands, and would never be associated with those "inferior" non-legacy east Asian brands.

That's just how it was. Even though the east Asian market was producing higher quality than American or British cars at the time. We were making junk, and so was England.

A popular saying was "The parts falling off this Jaguar are of the finest British make."

I always find it funny when people tout environmental issues as a reason to get an electric car. They are worse for the environment than a regular gasoline car. Those batteries didn't just spring into existence out of nowhere, and they won't suddenly vanish into nothing when they're no longer usable. Plus, electricity generation is a pretty dirty industry overall. Not everything is windfarms and a few solar panels on individual roofs. Not that I think your comment was in that vein, comes across pretty clearly as sarcasm.

Internal Combustion Engines waste a lot of energy, so the amount of stuff burned in order to make an electric car go x distance is often less than if it's directly burned in the car and not stored. Also we need to solve the issue of power plants harming the environment whether they power cars or not, and having two problems requiring different solutions is worse than having one massive problem. Not to mention that most power plants create their emmissions outside of population centers, lowering the deaths due to particulates.

Every single part of manufacturing and shipping an electric car makes it immediately a deficit. My freaking Bronco is better for the environment than the average electric car.

Please feel free to do your research and look up the cost of producing and shipping and maintenance and evil see the exact problem with electric cars. I mean they even still require coal fuel to charge their batteries. Someday they will be efficient and be capable of doing something good for the environment but right now they are literally a waste of space.

I would rather have my 67 GT over an electric car because even though I have to do a lead additive to the fuel I still get to drive a car that is better for the environment that an electrical car.

Please feel free to not just read the provided add topics and actually look at the cost.

So I did some research, looking at 6 sources (purposely seeking out the articles that said EVs were worse, which was difficult) and my mind has honestly been changed. I thought the difference would be marginal at best but now I know that EVs are better, much better than I thought before. Not the result you were hoping for but... thanks even so?

Settle down guys. Bronco good but when rectenna tech is good to go (easier in uk cause we smol) we dont need wires or batteries no more. Literally draw power wirelessly out the street and then things get super cheap and super make sense. And it makes sense for the environment cause it is all nuclear power.

Didja read all about the wonderful cobalt and lithium mining conditions in countries like the DRC?

That's a lot of strip mines for those giant batteries.
