What does this "BASED" Internet slang word mean?
I have done research and have found that this "BASED" slang word was originated from a social media site known as "4chin", if I am correct. I have concluded that this slang is not related at all to its original definitions. In response, I resorted to less civilized sources to test if they had a clearer meaning to this piece of informal language; but the procedure had yielded little to no results, which was to be expected. If I am to ever coexist in an informal vicinity, then I should familiarize myself to their way of communication.

When you have an unpopular opinion, and say it publicly without giving a ♥♥♥♥ about being "cancelled" or being called XYZ.

Basically what the Internet used to be pre-Twitter and pre-Reddit.

No one used the term "based" pre-Twitter or pre-Reddit

I thought the origin of based was from that rapper Lil B. Too lazy to actually check.

It's another 4Chan thing that was adopted by Reddit.

I decided to check briefly if it did originate from Lil B... It didn't, it was originally slang for acting like you're on a certain drug, but was reclaimed by Lil B, who started calling himself Based God, and popularized it to mean something like "to carry yourself with swag and not care what people think", and then I guess 4Chan got a hold of it and it spread to become a meaningless thing that people just say.

That was like 5 seconds on google, so maybe there's more to the story, but meh...

It is. The original was "based god". /pol/ stole it and ruined it. Like they ruin so many other things.
