Game Fraud and Scams taking the fun out of Gaming
No matter how big and complicated a game is, with thorough testing all of these bugs can and should be ironed out before it gets to the player. Truth is we are all game testers now. Instead of games being sold as a finished product, they are now sold as a work in progress. People are not paid to debug the product being sold to them. We are now paying for the privilege of playing a broken game while fixing it for them. How is this fair trade business? Imagine if you paid €60 to go see a film, and were shown a rough edit and asked to come back and watch it again in a few weeks when they finished it. Imagine if the film didn’t work, so they showed you a five-minute short film instead as an ‘apology’ (and no refund). Imagine if the film ended after an hour, and you were charged another €20 to see the rest of it.
The issues we’re seeing in new releases are not obscure bugs that players were unlikely to find by themselves such Pokémon’s infamous MissingNo (pictured), these are obvious errors that should have been fixed long before a release date was even announced. The rush to get games out for their release date has outstripped any attempt at quality, and it’s the player who pays for this. the ones who pre-order or buy soon after release, are the ones who lose out. They pay €60 for a broken product which may or may not work eventually. People are starting to complain about this practice, but by the time you find out the game doesn’t work it’s too late, your money is gone. The ‘Day One Patch’ is so ubiquitous now that no one bats an eyelid, but not everyone has their games consoles hooked up to the internet meaning that a game fresh from the box increasingly doesn’t work at all. Lets not even get into the loot box or gamble box scams, this practice needs to end.

It's documented history why do i need a example, google it your self.

YOU made these claims, so you have to also provide evidence.
OP either you're young, or you been living under a rock.

This isn't 1980s, this is 2020, ever since internet became a thing, people having access to download patches, and updates, you would've clued in by now what has been going on. People report bugs, and issues on game forums for years, and when game devs seek these reports they may make patch / updates to the game for the users to get for their copy of the game to fix, or correct issues. Problem is you're only realizing this now of all time which was clear longer than you think and were blind to what you're ranting about.

These days we're getting patches, or updates more often than before in the past, but still doesn't change what has been other than we don't need to seek their site to download patch to apply ourselves instead we just let the game client do all the work for us, and just post the information on the game forums, or report directly to the game devs, hence what I said above already in this post you're reading.

Why are you trying to cheat us?
You cheated yourself jumping to buy before you research, or buying day 1 without thinking.

Why does Steam support unfair business practice?
Some examples of unfair trade methods are: the false representation of a good or service; false free gift or prize offers; non-compliance with manufacturing standards; false advertising; or deceptive pricing.
1. Steam is a store, they don't own, nor make these games beside VALVE Games, here a wiki link to help inform yourself which are VALVE Games are.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Valve_games

2. Steam does not set the prices on these 3rd party games, nor control what 3rd party game devs /publishers do with their games. Hence do your research before you blindly buy games, or buying them day 1. The same problems can happen on console as well, and same rules applies.

3. "false free gift or prize offers" If talking about those past Steam giveaway events that is RNG where random winners are picked, and rewarded, sorry but just because you didn't win, doesn't mean it false free gift, or prize offers. If you're talking about 3rd party, or someone giving things out that has nothing to do with Steam if it was not handle by Steam.

4. "manufacturing standards" You must be retarted... THIS IS PC, NOT A CONSOLE!

5. "false advertising; or deceptive pricing." Nothing to do with Steam if the game devs / publishers are the ones doing it. Steam doesn't control, nor set game prices of 3rd party period. Each game has their own store page, and a report button, if game dev doing something that is agasint Steam guidelines they Steam support will looking it, but that does not mean they will do what you want.

What about it pertains to what you are talking about?

Where does Pokemon fit into this?

Steam, the biggest PC video game digital platform with over 100m users, recently introduced a robust refund system that lets customers request a refund for nearly any purchase - for any reason. Other digital platforms, such as EA's Origin and GoG, have similar refund policies.

That article states that Steam has implemented a robust refund system to protect users and actually PRAISES steam. So says the opposite of what your claiming.

The law also states that bugs are to be expected in games, and that patches to fix the bugs are completely reasonable. So it kinda destroys every claim you made.....

The summary is games are complex, and there will be a handful of games that have issues, get patched and fixed, and are fine
Ah, a clickbait article that you're pulling phrases from without actually understanding what it says.

Why does Steam in court have to keep changing their refund policies?

Because the laws in those countries keep changing and steam keeps up with the changes in the laws. Just like tax laws are changing that now require steam to ask for billing information.

That's a normal part of any business

It's call refund... Either just plain dumb, or trolling at this point.

What does that have to do with YOU?

Your reviews are quite telling as well. At least the negative ones are.

Which found that the US-based company had violated Australian consumer law by “representing to Australian consumers via the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Steam Refund Policy that consumers had no entitlement to a refund in any circumstances”. Does not sound like a policy update but a fine for being bad. So please explain your wrong statement you made.
