Anyone got gamer eyes?
Due my work and hobbies I spend a lot of time on the screen and this week I ended up getting red eyes and headaches, especially in the morning after waking up.

Anyone else? Any house remedies ?

I should.... but for some reason I don't anymore.

Even when I have a bad night sleep, my eyes remain white and clear. I think they only get red when I cry.

As for remedies, keep them closed, even without sleeping. Your tears are a natural way of cleaning the eyes, and keeping them closed will clean and hydrate them better.

Yeah I went off sickday today stayed in bed almost the whole day, helped me a lot to improve my eye issues.

I checked online and pretty much only found sources claiming I am going to go blind and other horrible shi...

So I thought I check here.

Keeping them closed is hard for me due my overly busy days really

I also work in front of the computer (with servers, for 10 hours....), and then stay for even more time in front of the screen.

My personal advice? If your eyes get too red and they start hurting, stay away from the screen as much as possible. My eyes don't get red, but they still hurt. I take those moments to have a walk, or do anything else.

I second glasses (I use monitor glasses that helped my headaches).
I also keep eyedrops at my desk to refresh the eyes.

10 hrs in a server room is pretty harsh man + all the gaming.

Yeah I try to avoid it, but considering tomorrow the new CoD is being released, I will probably just accept to turn blind. lol

Are they really this useful? I ordered some I can stick to my actual glasses, they are supposed to filter the blue light or something.

No no, not in the server room (I wish.... that would be my dream job), but in front of a laptop screen, in my house (COVID). I repair them remotely.

You also work in an office, right? What's your job?

Extreme reclusiveness, and a tendency for sarcasm and cynicism.

Yep, I get those. The migraines tend to happen when you're not getting enough rest, which is not the same thing as getting enough sleep.

Your brain's neurons operate like electrical circuits, and while tech produces a relatively mild EM field it's still strong enough to cause some disruption. This happens when you're around TVs, smartphones, tablets, computers and wi-fi routers, usually when you're in the same room or up to several feet away from them.

If you don't unplug and take a break on a regular basis, the effects build to where it affects your mood, concentration, memory, appetite and sleeping habits. Beyond that, you get towards something called "EM toxicity" but you'd have to be working on cell towers and roof antennas all day every day to get there.

Fortunately, the solution's pretty easy. For the red eyes, remember to stay hydrated. I know, you're sitting inside an air-conditioned room but EM fields are like any other type of radiated energy -- they'll heat up the water molecules that lube your eyeballs. Also, eat eggs for the lutein and vitamin E (if your dietary needs allow it) which help repair your retinas, and fruits rich in anti-oxidants such as blueberries, strawberries, pineapple and apples.

Basically, eat a healthy diet that meets your optimal dietary needs and skip the soda and processed foods whenever possible. The best way to do that is to learn how to cook.

As for the migraines, you'll need to spend a bit more time outside in the sunlight to reset your brain's pineal gland. Try to do this for 10-15 minutes every day in the morning and/or afternoon, not during the worst heat of the day. UVB rays get absorbed into your skin and converted to natural D3. This vitamin is essential for your body's basic functions -- immunity, mood stabilization, metabolism, cellular repair and maintaining proper REM cycles.

You'll also want to set a cut-off time for shutting off your tech, at least 2 hours before going to bed. It'll help if you maintain a regular bedtime too, but that's how long it takes for your brain to "reset" its electrical circuits. Once that happens, you'll be able to fall asleep faster and hit those sweet sweet REM cycles that allow your brain to do the nightly housekeeping.

Staying hydrated during the day also helps prevent the brain from running low on cerebral fluid, which is used during the nightly housekeeping by flushing out toxins.

Very detailed information here. Thanks for that.

About the diet, yeah I eat very healthy, I don't eat sweets and never drink soda stuff, I live on water and a quite balanced diet, eat a hell a lot of carrots and take all kinds of vitamin pills.

I try to go out everyday and usually workout in the evenings in the forest, thing is that where I live, there is literally no sun, only a dark cloudy sky that greets you with some rain from time to time.

Hardest part, to shut off the screen for 2 hrs before bed, that seems very difficult for someone who can't really sleep well anyway and I am not sure what else I could be doing in this time other than reading a few books, then I also got my smartphone that I automatically pick up and look at and end up surfing youtube the entire night x)

You are right tho, way too much screen time especially if I consider time on the phone, like I am starring at a screen for like 18 hrs a day.

Hmm nope. I use F.lux and Dark Reader (Chrome extension). I also keep a light on (especially at night) and take breaks every hour or so.
I'd like to think that my eyes are fine because of that.
