If you could suggest new laws for video games what would you ask for?
I would like to see games that are online only be forced to offer an option to the user to play offline and LAN in case the servers are shut down or move to another owners service.

I personally feel it is anti consumer for devs to be able to shut down ability to play a game you have paid for.

Anything else people feel should be addressed? It seems Epic lawsuit had drawn the attention of the government here to look at the 30% issue but I think it is sad that they seem ignorant of other issues they could advocate for the people for.

I intend to write my representatives on this issue and urge others to do the same but wanted to know if there are other consumer issues that also should be included.

Getting kids hooked on gambling like mechanics needs regulated for sure.

BIG WARNING LABELS and higher age ratings preferably.

And it's not only kids who get hooked on game mechanices, grown up people do also. But I bet your bottom dollar the big boys would fight something like this tooth and nail though the court system for decades and most likely win in the end.

Only law that should be forced is to ban any form of loot boxes totally because loot boxes is gambling.

If a publisher dosnt give devs enough time to fix and tweak the game before release day than there should be some type of punishment for it as I am tired of modern triple A games coming out broken also loot boxes should be banned 100% around the globe make loot boxes a crime if a game company is caught putting loot boxes in there game they will face legal action.

It be near impossible to enforce such a law. The Eula's and ToS we all sign give them permission to do so. Many games in the past I have bought for real money have shut down, some games just don't work anymore due to windows upgrade. Im still upset over starwars galaxies shutting down, must of pulled in nearly £500 into that game over the years :(

Releasing the same game with very little to no changes for a full price. Examples FIFA.

All games should come with subtitles and/or lots of audio options and settings to tweak for hearing impaired people.

Games with lootboxes or other forms of gambling should have the same warnings and regulations betting sites have.

we should be allowed the option to turn on/off words we don't like, before you say i'm one for censorship, i said option, its not forced onto you, and even then, more options = more freedom, more freedom = better.

You already can do that on the forums and in chat.

Best part of the article is...

F U Steam, how do I turn this thing off?

It now extends to the forums as I have it turned off and see your name just fine.

But it’s not gambling. It’s “surprise mechanics”. still can’t believe an EA lawyer tried to use that as their argument.

I guess that would be a nice option for some people however it’s like watching a rated R movie and you don’t like rated R movies lol idk it just seems funny in my opinion I don’t like adult content but I’ll buy/consume adult content knowing what this game/movie contains something I don’t like if your talking about allowing to toggling off adult language in games thats what I read anyways I could be wrong and maybe your talking about the forums idk.

Aside of this:

On top of my head:

-Every multiplayer game MUST include bots for solo/offline play.
-Enforced ability to run dedicated servers for games.
-Obligatory FOV sliders and head bobbing/motion blur toggles.
-Ability to configure keybinds (That we still have to fight this in this day and age baffles me)

If only people didn't raise in arms every time a game is delayed maybe developers would invest more time in polishing their games.
Then there's the part where someone releases another game while you're polishing yours and by the time you release people have moved to play the other game that released earlier.
It's a complicated matter.
Not release an unfinished product. Its false advertisement
Cross progression for popular games like Overwatch
Loot boxes need to go. Even if u put a 18+ rating its still bad business for the gaming industry

Microtransactions are punishable by death.
Exclusives are punishable by death.

I almost forgot one more thing false advertising aka E3 if a game is shown to look better than what the actual game is than that should be a punishable action.

It should definitely be illegal to make things I don’t like, yes
