Do people trust gaming websites and make decisions based on their opinion?
I mean, websites like IGN and such. They just seem to give very high scores to any AAA games.

I don´t but most do. Mainly because the avarage gamer can´t make up their own opinion, this means that they need to be "guided" and "helped" this is also why we have achivements and easy gameplay in many games.

Are reviews worth something? well they are often paid for.. just take the Gamespot scandal and you will understand what I am talking about...

Me? No, sir!
Others? Eh, probably, sir!

I don't. In fact, I usually don't go for reviews when I want to play or watch something. If the premise presented in that media is interesting enough for me, I'll simply go for it.
I think people rely too much on others' opinion to start watching or playing something, which often ends up in them missing on good stuff because three idiots didn't get to the bottom of it, and just analyzed the surface.

Not me, play throughs on YouTube or Twitch are what I prefer. I'll watch the odd review on the Worth A Buy channel on YouTube but it's more for entertainment than anything. I haven't read a review magazine since issue 127 of PC GAMER back in 2003.

Some people do. Personally I haven't read a "professional" review in years, perhaps a decade even.

that's what you get for not reading PC ZONE instead

Those "gaming/entertainment" websites, contain opinions from people who probably never (or barely) produced or created a video game or film in their lives. Of course people are going to take them serious. Surely, they must be fully capable to write "professional" reviews, and you should always trust them. :steamhappy:

Trust? No. But sometimes there's useful information out there, and I use that big ol' brain of mine to filter the actual information out of the wank that typically gets published on games journalism websites.

I used to be a regular reader of quite a few large gamejourno websites, but nowadays I really cannot be arsed. Especially regards it here in the UK, where it became some kind of weird incestuous love-in between people who think they're funny, and give each other jobs because they used to work at the same certain Bath based magazines, and have aspirations of being writers of meaningful things (spoiler: no)

lol

Don't put your faith in random people, companies or websites. Trusting random people only leaves yourself open to being ripped off, scammed and hurt.

Only people you should be trusting is your loved ones and people you can really trust.

You can if she has played it.

Good answer m8, but some moms today were gamer's of yesterday so should know a thing or two about gaming.

Anyway my point I was trying to put across was that sure read reviews, listen to others but never take they word for it. Because some paid meta critic says game A is the best doesn't mean it's the best for you.
