I have never been tested more than when I played that game. It is hard, it is harder than I could have comprehended going into it. I got hard-stuck on the part where you're supposed to save this guy from bandits, and I just couldn't beat them, I spent at least an hour trying to beat them, before I outright quit the game. I returned to beat it a couple months later though, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it at a much slower pace.
actually since it's a GZdoom game I had more fun loading Doom 2 and Final Doom maps in Hedon then playing Hedon maps themselves.
The new player experience is still a joke. The revamped first mission is great, teaching you the basics in a good linear level, pretty cinematic too, good stuff. You unlock ship modules at a fairly alright pace, learning a bit what they do. Then you unlock the last and, what do you do. There are so many systems in place, it is very easy to get overwhelmed. If you are a new player if you want a good experience you either need the wiki up 24/7, or a veteran friend
When it was announced there was so much hype, open world, dynamic missions and massive and dangerous Terralysts. Was super cool at first, flying everywhere was awesome. Until it just became a grind island. Then Fortuna came out, another grind island, Heart of Deimos, another
It's an mmo (kinda, in a way), of course there is grind, but what are you left at endgame? Nothing. I guess you can do the Star Chart with the Steel Path with that Inaros build that won't ever die anyways, raids were removed so can't do that, pvp is a bigger joke than my will to live. At least we got Fashionframe, the true endgame
Kuva liches instantly annoyed me, it wasn't worth the annoyance and grind for me, Railjack was just, not good, at all. I don't know how the state is now, and frankly I don't care.
The core gameplay is fantastic though. The space ninja action still lives on and I don't see DE ever taking that away. Slashing your way through hordes of enemies, using powerful abilities leaving destruction in your path, it's good stuff. But why not just play Inaros, Octavia or Equinox, trivialising the game
Or maybe I've just gotten bored of the game or burned out, highly probable too
Oh well hopefully Harrow Prime looks cool once he comes out, I'm that rare person that uses Harrow outside of Eidolon Hunts. But after that, don't really know what else to do. Maybe I'll uninstall the game for good
The game moved on steam , I had my character transferred properly and played again a bit but in general I'm completely lost because the game changed so much and the last time I played I had no idea what was going on and where I was supposed to go.
It was alright in the beginning, but then got stale really quickly for me, even made me sick every time I played it, not sure why. I still enjoy the older Dooms tho.
Some cool ideas, some really cool themes and an awesome soundtrack.
Other than those few things, it's a tedious, boring grind through boring areas with boring characters and a really basic combat system.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love the game but just burnt out well on it.
My return at a later date but not now.
Despite the fact that I managed to play through the campaign all the way to the final dungeon, I quit on the last boss. I never came to grips with how that game's combat system works, and as a result I don't enjoy it. It felt like some awkward mish-mash of real-time action and QTEs.
Why the over 2000 hrs of playtime then?
