This, not to mention gaming has never been more accessible to the masses. 20-30 years ago you were far more limited in your gaming then you are now.

because being a gamer as an adult used to be shameful and embaressing. And now its not so people don't feel pressure to grow out of being a gamer.

Nah, I don't think it has anything to do with kids these days so much as in the 90's virtually no adults played video games.

Because there's nothing killing off older gamers. Seems cheetos, doritos and mountain dew may well be the secret to long life.

And desireable. Gaming wasn't very interesting to adults in the atari days to adults. But nopw, with graphics, story telling, social, and game play mechanics expanding...well...there's more games for more people.

Like my dad didn't game, my grandparents didn't game my brother grew out of it like he was supposed too. My relatives didn't game as adults. It was just what you were expected to grow out of, like gi joes figures and barbie dolls and legos.

Only I didn't. And eventually my brother got a game system again to watch dvds with cuz play station was a cheap dvd player. He's not much of a gamer, but I still think he does sometimes game.

Cartoons were another thing you were suppose to grow out of as well. And before anime, cartoon network, all day cartoons, it was pretty easy to move past em. Like nicktoons didn't used to exist. Best of the best used to be rocky and bullwinkle and looney toons and stuff.

Its not even that, being a gamer wasn't even possible before a certain point plenty of us here on Steam are second generation gamers with first generation parents that never stopped and were the ones that introduced us to the hobby.

The Average age has to rise when the maximum cap for when people could have started does too.

I would say younger gamers outnumber older gamers Just based on the mass population increase since the 80s.

We older gamers just can effect gaming trends because we have a lot more money for hobbies. Go me! 10000+ plus games, two pinball machines, and DKjr cabinet. I am having a blast.

That would be false. The average age of a gamer is now around 35. The OP made this thread because he made the same incorrect assumption and was corrected on it and can't understand why.
