we might see a non-vr half life game, I wish they did port Half Life: Alyx into VR but Valve wanted to do something new, so idk maybe

I genuinely don't care, because I didn't like Half-Life to begin with. Only game Valve has put out which I liked to some capacity was Team Fortress 2. Hell, even when I had Half-Life on CDs - got them at a thrift store in the 2000s - I honestly didn't like it. Plus at the rate things are going, you're not getting Half-Life 3 without an act of divine intervention and I don't think you could afford my rates.

They've been extremely active in suggesting, perhaps even saying straight up, that we should in fact be expecting more Half Life.

Whether it's on VR that's a game breaker for me.

Fallout never went back to Isometric, when it switched to FPS. Warcraft never went back to RTS after it went MMO. I don't suspect they will ever go back to normal Half-Life FPS. Half-Life Alyx was a test to see how many people would jump on the VR bandwagon. If there is ever going to be a new Half-Life game cannon to Gordon, it will be a VRFPS. Valve even said something about not caring if Alyx was popular, even giving it away for free with their VR hardware. They wanted to see how many people would go out and buy/connect a VR device to Steam just to play the next Half-Life game.

The ending of Half Life: Alyx literally set up another game (but you know how Valve is with cliff hangers)

I remember reading somewhere in the Final Hours of Half Life: Alyx that if they do another game it wont just be able to be played on VR, but dont quote me on that.

To be fair, they're right - there've been dozens if not scores of these types of threads since early in the year when Alyx was announced / released / teased.

And long before that, we have had hundreds of discussions on steam and everywhere else about what the hell is up with half life.

The math baffles me. That it's patently obvious there are MANY more people willing to pay 50 bucks for a single playable pc non-VR game (or hell, pick more - put it out on mac, on consoles, whoever), than are *able* to pay 1k for a stupid vr setup AND the game? (A vr setup I will add is woefully backed up in terms of production, enough that there are consistent complaints about how long it's taking to fill orders that were placed MONTHS ago)...

It makes no sense at all. Like literally guys: I have a wad of money in my hand and I want to shove it in your bank account, please put your game in a format I can *use*.
