I don't consider censorship a game to be played. It's more a concern, even if you didn't use that certain product, these apps are just the first two pawns. What happens next and next. There will be bounce back ripple effects to occur. That's a given.
There are a few billion of users on Tiktok. One being my little cousin who likes watching some Americans, such as Merrick Hanna, on there.
Some people won't take that sudden cut from an addiction. They might wish to still sneak on and merely view.
Also, if there's no TikTok and way to bypass, then all those individuals will end up flowing into something else. The so-called "cringe" you wanted to avoid ends up coming over to your own social media platforms.
REAL WORLD NEWS Y'ALL lol

You may just get your wish. Along with league of legends and maybe rocket league. I hope epic games gets banned in the usa also.

I've seen enough to know that it will not be missed if it never comes back.
Defending from a paranoid xenophobia of distrust, which is more than just a mere 2 apps. I consider the apps merely pawns to play in the chess game.
You have no idea the rabbit hole.

The Social Dilemma shows you watch is already happening on the American side, they just became paranoid if they are already doing it, perhaps others might be too.
When an app is free, it's no longer a product, but rather you are that product. Advertising collects personal data for targeting. Yet it's gone beyond that now, to shape human behaviours and create movements. Positive or negative doesn't matter.
Tiktok users can create movements, huge movements. Like they did to the Trump rally. Hense why he wants to get rid of it.
Why you think China has a firewall to shape information flows. It's the same deal.
The privacy factor isn't the issue, hell that's worst in American's own products and companies. It's just a masked excuse to put over a much more complex issue.
So your little fantastic idea about using a VPN to use the app is laughable and stop believing everything you see on YouTube.
