TikTok and WeChat download ban begins Sunday, full ban on Nov 12 (in the US)

If you have either TikTok and WeChat installed on your phone, the app will continue to work. However, both apps will be removed from Apple App Store and Google Play store. So, starting on Sunday, Americans will not be able to download TikTok or WeChat, and current users will no longer be able to update TikTok or WeChat in the future.

The FULL ban will begin on November 12: that is when TikTok and WeChat will STOP working on iPhone and Android. I use Android devices. Google has in the past removed apps that I HAD PAID FOR and were already installed on my Android devices... AND GOOGLE REMOVED MY APPS WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! Google did not give me a refund either. (F- you, Google.) Not sure if TikTok and WeChat will get the same treatment.

I not wishing to be rude or disrespectful. I think it quite easy for understanding though. Tiktok is no issue but WeChat is big thing. If you live in western country then Whatsapp, facebook, twitter etc and others are fine for communications with family and friends. If you have family member that reside in mainland China then this can be issue. Whatsapp and others not easily available in China so this make communication more of problem.

Americans are all going to just go VPN mode and many appear to already be making that move! Similar Hong Kong residents have also been seen flocking to VPN services in anticipation of heightened censorship.

Get yourself a VPN, such as NordVPN, etc. You can run some versions through your smartphone even. The change your country location to an unblocked location. Grab the TikTok and WeChat app, install and run it as normal.

You will just have to remember to enable VPN before running and can disable the VPN after closing the app.

Why?

I'm an IT Security Expert and had a look at the TikTok privacy. It's not the problem. They aren't banning it for your privacy or safety. I know why he wants to ban them, but that would get into politics, I don't wish to discuss. So lets just say if I was TikTok or WeChat, I would just sue Trump.

Pay attention. The apps themselves will stop working on Nov 12th...a VPN doesn't make an app magically start working that has been disabled.
