I mean I own Hitman 2, which requires an internet connection (one of the few single player games I own that does) and I don't play it nearly enough, because of the times I've been interrupted by a disconnection from their servers.
I've loved some of the exclusives on consoles in the past, most recently Breath of the Wild on the Switch, but none of those consoles were as restrictive on my gaming as this kind of stuff.
Imagine wanting to play singleplayer game, but can't because your internet is down. Imagine playing singleplayer game, just about to save when your internet goes down for few min, and your game ends there.
Consoles typically have to lose money selling the unit in order to profit off of exclusivity and licensing deals on in-house publishers.
It probably costs less to rent a server-farm and stream most of the calculations to a more moderately-priced platform and then charge full price to cover the projected server rental in advance.
That's without considering data analytics, which don't require always-online but are much easier to integrate and secure if online is available. They'll also supposedly be more accurate, reliable, capture more data, etc. I don't think any of that is true, but it sounds good in a boardroom.
Yet you're here on Steam?
same here....also most exclusives tend to be offline too (unless you want to update the latest version which is also 100% optional). I barely connect Wifi to my PS4. Haven't updated it since like November 2018 (v5.55)
