A Nightmare On Elm Street makes no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense.
I wanted to watch all the Nightmare On Elm Street movies before watching Freddy VS Jason so it would make more sense, but A Nightmare On Elm Street itself makes no sense whatsoever.

I expected these movies all to just be about people running from Freddy in their nightmares, but it's way more than that.

The ending of the first one makes no sense.

And the second one, since when can Freddy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ control people in real life and make them kill people? This is not IT.

I don't even know if I will keep watching these, they make no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense.

Life is but a dream...
Full of creepy hipsters wearing ugly sweaters and fedoras.
The ending to the first movie makes sense you just didn't get it. It was a psychological ending making you question if what you are seeing was real, a set of dreams, or was it all just in Nancy's head the entire time. I'll break it down a bit to make it easier to understand.

Nancy at the end no longer had fear for Freddy, and thus made Freddy too weak to kill her. This also means that Nancy had power over Freddy, and could use that to pull Freddy out of the dream world. However this is the point in question on was it real. Did she really pull Freddy out of the dream world, or did she instead pull Freddy into her own dream world where she had full control due to her lack of fear?

After Freddy was defeated we see that Nancy's friends are still alive, and outside waiting on her to go to school together. At this point we must question was Nancy dreaming everything this entire time? Was the entire movie all just a bad dream that was inside of Nancy's head? Then we get the twist, and are still left with no answer. The only answers without seeing the sequals are the ones the views come up with.

What?

The Freddy pulls Nancy's mom through the little window on the door was added against Wes Craven's wishes. It makes no sense, and rightly so. It IS nonsense.

I wasn't talking about the added window twist. I was talking about the car top closing on it's own twist that freaked Nancy out. At that moment we have to question Nancy's sanity as she was extreamly jumpy, and scared for her life as the car starts driving away. Sorry, I should have put that in my original post from the start.

Also I agree that the window twist is nonsense that should have been left out. The rest of the movies ending was fine before that point.

See, that is completely fine. That part was properly creepy.

Nancy really does gloss over what happened then in 3 though.

"He even killed my mom..."

Kind of ruins the whole end of the first movie really.
Wow, a movie about a man who comes back after being burned alive so he can infiltrate peoples nightmares and kill them doesn't make sense? I would've never guessed.

The point is that the things he does do not match up with his abilities.

The second movie has an easy explanation for how Freddy is controlling Jesse's body. It's called sleep walking. When one sleep walks the subconscious mind takes over control of the body. However in Jesse's case it isn't his subconscious mind, but Freddy himself in control. Freddy is using Jesse's fear to over power the subconscious part of Jesse's mind. This would allow Freddy to take full control of the body. As the movie showed once Freddy gained enough power he was able to almost over take Jesse's mind completely even when he was awake.

As for the physical changes this could all just be an illusion of Jesse's mind. For all we know Jesse would look the same to everyone else, but in his mind he looked like Freddy. Like the first movie the second film has a good number of psychological elements that leave the question of if Jesse was another victom of insanity, or at the very least suffering from a split personality disorder.

With that said the second film is definitely not the best, but it also isn't the worst movie out of the series. The worst I would have to say is Freddy's Dead as it just goes way too far from it's roots, and steps way too deep into trying to be a dark comedy.

What is The Elm Street Legacy? Is it a remake of all the movies or is it an actual part of the story that I should watch?

The Elm Street Legacy is a documentary film that has interviews with the cast, and crew of the films. It shows some of the stuff that went into the special effects, and make up work. It isn't requried to watch, but it still is worth checking out if you want to know more details on the behind the scenes stuff that when into the making of the movies.

Well, I am afraid you came to the wrong place if you were looking for story. Even thoush most of the movies are direct sequels, they each rewrite the rules every time.
