Are prefects real?

The game "Bully" has 4 students who patrol the school, enforcing the rules and busting and beating people who break them, and then taking them to the office.

According to Google, a prefect is a student who has been given permission to enforce discipline.

I have never, ever seen any school with prefects in real life.

Has anyone here actually ever went to a school with prefects?

I like to go to nearby campuses and clobber people. Am I not entitled to a citizens arrest? I just can’t seem to find anybody to haul them away. I’ve got more important things to do.

I had prefects in my schools. They're students with spotless disciplinary records and good grades. They take note of misbehaving students and report offenses to teachers, who are the ones who give out disciplinary measures.

Because it is a video game.

Prefects are mostly found in private and boarding schools. They are exemplary students who are given the power to enforce certain rules and lead by example. They don't assault students, and students don't run around assaulting them. They haul you off and report you to the administration.

Na man, they get weeded out by all the normal students usually. By either no one wanting to be their friend, or slightly worse but not physical methods. Atleast in my school, at 2nd grade I'd say a hefty 15% of students were prefects, now in 10th grade there's less then 10.
