Most groups are more dead than ot. And some of the more lively groups often are people from the forums trying to get away from mods. Like the big TF2 guild.

It wasn't intended to be, but I would say so, yes. Hell, I've met in real life and hung out with a couple of friends I made here.

Yes but I think that social network is a part of steam that is also an optional part, for. If you don't want to socialize, you can just play games and in that case it's more of a gaming platform than a social network but in any case, I think of course there may be more layers to this say versatility of Steam, which just makes it interesting as a sort of 'complete' or more complete than others, platform.
